Berra and Clare weak links in the team but overall feel like thats the best team we could’ve put out.

We need to batter them from the kick-off.

That is a team that is more than capable of taking care of that mob, I fancy us to score a few as well.

Hopefully that useless feck Lewis Stevenson is playing and Meshino runs him ragged....

C'mon Hearts lets get right in about them....

No idea. I was told yesterday from a first team player that both Naismith and Smith had passed tests and would start.

If true which I believe it was, Naismith seems to pull of the team/squad very late each time.

It's becoming farcical tbh.

So you wouldn't have signed him?

Yes, but not on a 4 year deal, 2 would have been sensible. You get the distinct impression that Naismith had a very clear understanding of his intrinsic value to the manager's future in the summer and played a brilliant hand to get what he wanted.

Side thought - Clare is clearly lacking form. He was being chased by clubs down south (no idea how) and we signed him when he would have had offers on more money.

Do you think there is a 'must play' part in his contract? It's genuinely the only thing I can think of why he's never dropped.

I was speaking to a Wednesday fan last week and he said he was great for them in the small amounts of appearance he made.

Clare preferred to Irving.  Today he does a Super Wayne.

Completely different roles.

Damour has been favoured to Irving

Clare is in because Naismith/Walker is injured.

The team have clearly set up to play with Naismith (If above poster can be believed) so the only person that can fit into the system they will have been working on all week is Clare.

Playing Irving would have meant a midfield 3 and a completely different system to that which has been used all week in prep for the game...

Not a Clare fan if I had my way wouldn't be near the team. But our three in behind uche have the ability to interchange. Clare played his best on behind the striker against Hamilton. He is due a performance. Just got to get the basics right Today.

Bit harsh on Irving who has potentially been our best player this season.

If we try and play football we'll beat them.

If we spend our time launching it into the Ozone trying to hit Uche then we'll not.

Looking forward to seeing Meshino from the start.

FTH!

I think it’s right to have two more physical CMs this week. Generally agree with you moving forward though.

The line-up is fine BUT only if they play at high tempo in Hibs' half.  Players should get fined for unnecessary back passes.  I am looking for a Kevin Kline of a game from Uche.

You want Uche to be in and out of the game? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Don't know much about Hibs, but Marciano has been dropped for Maxwell in goals. From the little I've read, Maxwell is a bomb scare.

Could be another classic Hibs keeper.

It’s a no win situation with some folk. If we didn’t sign him they’d be moaning, we do sign him they still complain.

Delighted to see smith back, Damour and Whelan should give us bite in the middle to allow Mullaney and Clare to support Uche, Meshino to run riot.

2-0 Hearts.

Captain Canada

Disappointing Naismith hasn't even made the bench due to his injury.

Otherwise it's a strong team and hopefully Clare gets fired up for this and grabs a goal.

Back 4 is as good as we could hope for.

Hard to believe that many of us are pinning our hopes on a bairn from other side of world who might struggle to find Edinburgh on a globe!

Clare again.......

Point would be decent gain today.

Hope young lad and Smith can get us up the pitch and convert!

Team looks fine. Makes more sense than last week anyway.

Fancy us today. To win and score two at least.

Defeat doesn't even bear thinking about. Fricking massive game.

Levein expected Naismith to be fit and gave him every chance to prove it. The fact he failed a late test is in no way lying on Levein’s part.

so, yes. Give it a rest.

2-0 Hearts.

Exactly this.

The children demand that Levein signs Naismith.

The same children then demand that Naismith plays even when injured.

The same children then attack Levein for signing an injury prone Naismith.

The same children attack Levein for supposedly playing Washington when not fully fit.

The children are, quite frankly, pathetic.

Our manager should keep his gob shut until he is actually fit then.

Maybe Levein should give his own comments a rest. 😏

I'm not suggesting he is anything other than a decent guy, all the off field evidence points to a responsible, self aware individual who cares about many things outside football. I'm just talking about him negotiating cleverly.

I think Clare is to play behind Uche with Meshino wide.

I hope so. That's Clares proper position and one where he can make a real difference.

Managers are duty bound to give press conferences. It’d be silly to confirm players are def in/out ahead of a big game. Managers do this all the time, not giving too much away. I see nothing wrong with saying he expects him to play. How many times have you heard a player is def out only for him to be in the line up? Very common. Put away your toy plane and get behind everything Hearts, at least just for today, eh?

Personally I think Clare is playing because he plays the 10 role very well.

Every time I see him play he is always trying to drive the team forward, carrying the ball into dangerous areas. Scores the odd goal as well.

I certainly wouldn't want to have to deal with Uche while also watching one of Clare, Mulraney and Meshino charging at the goal full speed with the ball. It should be a defences nightmare but we need to use it properly.

Clare is an imposter and putting him there just gives him a chance to hide.

Radio saying it’s a back 5 for hearts with Smith playing alongside Berra and Halkett. Surely no?

Joel

Smith Berra Halkett

Hickey Mulraney as wing backs?

Whelan, Damour and Meshino in the middle

Clare

Uche

or swap Clare with Meshino?

4231 for me tho I’d imagine.

As opposed to negotiating badly? Or was dishonesty your angle?

It is frankly awful luck but at the same time so predictable that the three players signed to improve us going forward are all unavailable.

Walker and Washington for quite some time yet but I have that sinking feeling regarding Naismith.

Levein would have no luck if it wasn't for bad luck.

Naismith, Walker, Washington & Haring would have been starters.
