Valentine's Day Massacre.

Other one is Laurent Fignon at the 1998 Tour de France.

That's my laptop background.  There are many people in my office and around the country that have seen that when i've been presenting and i always get asked who it is.  It's so pleasurable telling the entire story.

Mine too...!

I'm a huge fan of both these, i've never seen this doctored one before and "crying Dawson" is my favorite!

Fignon lost the Tour on last day TT into Paris to LeMond... by eight seconds. It’s generally thought he was never the same rider after that!

That is a powerful but absolutely horrible photo. I was about 16 and vaguely aware there was a war in Yugoslavia but this made me read and realise what was happening. Still shocks me now. The absolute contempt for the dead is visceral.

For anyone unfamiliar, this is one of of Arkan’s Serbian ‘tigers’ kicking the body of a dying or dead Muslim woman civilian, alongside the bodies of her family.

My alltime fave, the noise was incredible.

The Lightning was amazing but the Howl from the Vulcan just edges it for me. Sad times when these two Icons can not be seen flying anymore at Airshows. (Although am sure there is still a Lightning flying in South Africa the last I read)

I seen the Vulcan at airshows a few times, that wee whine before the vibrations rip through your chest was amazing.

I was in the ATC as a lad, back in the 80's, had summer camp at RAF Binbrook twice, the Lightnings were based there, just started to get phased out by the Tornado on our 2nd visit.

I remember watching that Grand Prix.

Austrian boy was killed in the qualifiers the day before as well :(

On the Friday Rubens Barrichello was badly injured in a crash as well.

Roland Ratzenberger killed on the Saturday.

And on race day, at the start of the Grand Prix there was a big crash and a tyre & other debris flew over the barriers into the crowd injuring several spectators.

Then Senna's crash.

English Electric Lightning

Thanks for that.

I should’ve recognised it especially when I used to see it on the way to the Gyle.

Those crane operators were paid to lower their cranes as the coffin went past.

I always thought it was a spur of the moment thing.

Nope. The BBC made a programme a few years back about his funeral where they interviewed one of the dickers involved.

The funeral was held on a Saturday and the dockers didnt work on Saturday afternoons this coupled with the fact that Churchill wasnt too popular amongst them resulted in them refusing to come in.

Unril they were offered extra in order to come in and lower them.

Here we go, about 1.45 in...
