Just watched that. I knew about the piece of debris from the previous Continental flight but was unaware that there were so many other contributing factors, most of which were human error.

If that's what I think it is, I watched a great documentary about it years ago. Two rival figure skaters?

Is that the tomb of Tutanchamun? If so, I watched a decent documentary about it yesterday - it was on Iplayer.

Not a picture, but an iconic painting by Norman Rockwell on the subject of school integration in the USA.

These are absolutely heartbreaking.

That young woman, and the others like her, who endured the abuse of racist mobs just to get an education, were genuine heroes.

The screeching white lass would, quite quickly, repent and became a political activist for the civil rights movement and a charity volunteer working with the black community

Cheers Cade, hadn’t read about that. I don’t think I would have been able to bring myself to make peace with Hazel Bryan, but I suppose you never really know how you would act unless you were really in that position. Must have been horrific what they went through.

The boy on left, second bottom picture. 'Pure Evil!'

Think there are quite a few in all of the photos that look pure evil.

Reading the text, I wish I could post a picture of Russ Abbott smoking a Castella cigar. It just reminds of the advert.

I stood on the Seacat deck of HMS Intrepid and watched this happen. HMS Antelope in San Carlos water. Uxb going off whilst attempt is being made to defuse it. One bomb expert dead the other lost an arm I believe.

An American B-17 with a wing blown off by flak over Germany in April 1945.

The Boeing B17 "Wee Willie" has its left wing blown off by flak over Crantenburg, Germany. April 10, 1945. [1800x1189]

That is horrendous.

We transferred a lot of those injured Welsh guardsman and sailors from the Intrepid to the hospital ship Uganda.

Only time I really got angry during the Falkland's war.

Incredibly, the pilot survived, but all the other crew members were killed.

Amazing he managed to keep a cool head and escape, or perhaps it broke apart and threw him free. Would probably feel guilty for the rest of his life.
