Getting some pelters here for saying Irving was foolish... maybe I'm too honest! You're right he took one for the team.

Brain fart after brain fart after brain fart.

We are just not very good at winning football matches and that’s down to one man.

You are absolutely at it. Setting aside the chronic ‘Levein can’t win anything’ chat, how can you possibly lay individual errors at his door? As far as I’ve seen tactics and formation have been attacking and positive tonight, it’s not his fault our strikers are misfiring.

See the post above yours. Foolish was the wrong word and it was a silly thing to say. I'm more annoyed he was in that position in the first place. This second half has been poor and Utd have had the better chances. Totally different to our first 45 minutes

If only he got to pick the strikers...

TBF, I rate Washington and think he'll be a really good player for us.

Think Washington needs a fair few matches - pretty anonymous

Aye, I think he needs to get used to the tempo. Once he’s sharp and gets a goal under his belt he should be pretty good.

Played well tonight against a scrappy side.  Lots of positives to take from this even if losing on pens.  That utd keeper is ducking brilliant.

Good first half, but we have been poor second half and created very little.

Fitness down to still not being a full 90 mins sharp I hope.

We couldn’t score in a barrel of f*annies.

If this is the best 18 man squad we have available at this early stage is that not alarm bells already?

Clancy is beyond belief

Get the impression that he has taken over the mantle from Collum. He has been dire tonight.

Listening on radio sounds of things United should have had a red card and we should have had a penalty just one minute before he got sent off, Clancy at it by the looks of it, cba with the SFA already

We were good first half, created a lot but we need to be better at finishing. Hopefully it comes with time.

Second half was a shite game of football and the weather made things difficult.

Sorry but has their keeper had one decent save in the game? I must have missed it.

I'm hoping once we're fitter and sharper we'll be seeing more performances like our first 45 mins here with the addition of more goals

When it comes down to it we are still struggling to beat a lower league side having barely troubled their keeper this half or indeed despite dominating for most of the game.

Ref has helped them

Yes and yes.

Been poor since the red , long balls no composure

Obviously being down to 10 men will exaggerate it but we lost all composure in the middle when Irving went off. Bozanic not the answer

You rate Washington after that performance!!!!

I hope it’s just games he needs as that was no good to us tonight.

So given what he had at his disposal today you wouldn’t have had a front 3 of Uche, Washington and Walker?

He looked good first and has faded second, which i suppose is to be expected from most given that it’s the first competitive game of the season. Good performance, absolutely awful finishing and decision making in the final phases.

I don't even think it was a minute.

Clancy doing what he does best............. having a howler!

Wonder if he can go the extra mile and **** up a penalty shoot out?

After a promising first half, the second half brought us back to reality.

Drawing with lower league opposition at home is poor in anyone's book.

Onto East Fire, Cowdenbeath and the mighty Stenhousemuir, surely 3 wins?

Ref was poor but not an excuse.

Whatever happens now, I’m encouraged for the season ahead... we’ve played some decent stuff and created loads of chances, albeit against a championship side.

Bit of work on our finishing and we could have a good season ahead.  HHGH

Bazzas right boot

A bit dissapointed, but also can see a difference in intensity and I think Walker and Washington will do well.

Mulraney and Walker were very good.

Washington looked clever with touches and runs but was rusty.

Hickey very good.

Smith solid.

Uche was poor, clumsy and poor passing.

Imo, Clare is the biggest dissapointment tho, he really should be bossing these games if he's anywhere near as good as CL thinks, he's far too passive and I don't know if that will change tbh.

Need a cm and another wide option, that is still clear.

Nb- CL and Robbie making sure both teams go through with the draw. 😉

Last half hour there was nothing left in the tank. Should have been out of sight 1st half but no natural finisher

Said yesterday this would be tight and it proved to be right enough. This is effectively a pre-season warm up such has the prestige of this cup fallen.

Exactly it!!!

Ultimately we have failed to win yet again at home. Not good enough by a long long way.

Plenty positives to take from this performance...1st half especially.

Washington looks intelligent enough but he’s not going to get us 15+ goals. Hope he proves me wrong. Naismith in that midfield is going to make a huge difference.

Oh and I thought hickey was excellent what a player he is

We will struggle again this year if we play like that. Laborious across the back and no movement up front.
