Diadora Van Basten
I watch the MLS and they regularly use VAR to overturn the initial bad decision. It would appear that VAR was asleep on the job today. I think they need to introduce a challenge system similar to tennis to stop this kind of bias. There will be enough going against both Old Firm teams for them and others to claim that they have been disadvantaged or that the system is working, but overall it is highly likely to follow the pattern of Scottish football systems and processes. The White Cockade
as clear a handball penalty as you are ever likely to see even worse because since VAR was introduced at international level practically every handball in the box has been given as a penalty even when totally accidental or blasted from two yards away just scrap VAR it's making things worse not better

As I keep repeating, do I think the new law is based on even 1% of common sense? No. The new law is crazy (much as, as we saw yesterday, the offside law is borderline crazy). But the law is the law is the law. Meanwhile, Shelley Kerr's got herself a cushty gig, hasn't she? Screw the tactics up in both games. Be far too timid and far too passive in both games, only waking up when 2-0 down. Leave Scotland's best player against England on the bench today. And then have everyone blaming the ref instead of looking at her afterwards! Remarkable.. I don't for a second believe the law has been so amended that it is permissible to control the ball and get away with it simply because you were drawing your arm into your body. Without the ref/VAR her tactics in both matches - to contain for 70 minutes before stepping it up, would have got a draw against 3rd & 7th ranked in the world. Slim margins. She is an excellent coach and it is just as easy to argue that had her tactics been bolder early in these matches, Scotland may have exposed themselves to pacier opponents on the counter. Bazzas right boot
VAR is far better than not having it. It never claimed to be perfect. What it should also do, over time is get rid of poor officials as they'll be highlighted more as well. If you get the original call wrong and keep reversing it more than the average you should get pulled for it, if you make the wrong decision even after the replays several times you should be made to look for a new job. More correct decisions and more highlighting and scrutiny of poor decisions is good imo. Not perfect but better than what we have just now. DETTY29
I didn't see the game today as I was driving but Steven Thomson's (Radio Scotland) lack of knowledge as to how VAR IS MEANT to work was beyond unprofessional. They have played the equivalent of Portugal and maybe Spain (not sure of rankings, cba checking) and got beat by a single goal. In the Premier tournament.
