If these scenes were seen in a South American banana republic or in a Russian backed country, the western democracies would be calling it for what it is. Mob rule, trying to intimidate and threaten to overcome a democratic result they don’t like. All that has to be done to further copy Nazi Germany is give those nutters, talking about Civil War if they can’t overturn a democratic vote, brown or black shirts. America, in my lifetime, has usually flattered to deceive as far as being “the land of the free” is concerned, but this is heading for a disastrous outcome. They have, through past extreme complacency, a nutter in the White House who looks like he is out of control. How the Republicans allowed Trump to use them as a vehicle for his erratic and divisive behaviour is staggering. That said, there are commentators, in America, who think that the people surrounding Trump are desperately trying to keep him away from the cameras, for fear of him stoking up further trouble that could end in tragedy. There are now 326k votes to be counted and there’s a 90k gap? So Biden has only made up 30k votes across the 224k votes counted the last few hours? Edit - ignore me, I’m talking shite! As an Irish person, one thing that astonished me was hearing some CNN guy saying that most journalists have never been at a count centre. There isn't an Irish journo or media person alive who hasn't spent days in an election count centre. The notion that you could be a political correspondent and avoid count centres would just be laughable here. Different cultures, I guess.
