Aw man, it's still fantastic. Adams was a genius.

I used to read it on a repeat loop.  Must have read it 100 times.  Not for many,  many years though.

Think it's time to queue HH and sequels on the kindle. Been a few years since the last read.

You.  Literally.  Could.  Not.  Make.  This.  Shit.  Up.

I'm guessing that this is connected to the Willie Wragg story.  The story the whips are so keen to keep quiet. More to come no doubt.

A lesson for ALL MPs to be aware of the dangers of being a slovenly reprobate and having to steal money to save their skins.  Ken?

Looking forward to his courageous,  principled admission after the strenuous refutal runs out of road.

Did he manage to fit in any work as an MP during this extensive period of being a complete degenerate?

Just watch as like the Wragg mp ,we will be told to feel sorry for him as just being damaged rather than a scoundrel.

Back to the culture wars.  This is insane.  Absolutely howling.

"There's nothing compassionate about leaving a generation of young people to sit alone in the dark before a flickering screen watching as their dreams slip further from reach every single day," Sunak said."

What future and what dreams await many of these young people? Minimum wage jobs in a variety of shitty retail placements or zero-hour contracts with the most egregious slave drivers and **** all chance of ever owning a house?

Capitalism is a zero-sum game. Not everyone can escape the crab bucket simply by putting in more effort.

What an out-of-touch spoiled prick.

No doubt.  But until such time that they might unfortunately require a period of health related absence from work.  Then find that they cannot rely on the discretion of an independent doctor.

They would howl from the rooftops no doubt.

How to cure civil unrest: Make protesting illegal.

How to cure homelessness: Make being homeless illegal.

How to cure long term sickness absence: Make being disabled illegal .

They're totally feckin bonkers.

The next election is going to be superb.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make but it looks like one of forgiveness and letting sleeping dogs lie, with a soupcon of whataboutery thrown in.

As with yer man who sent the pictures of his junk to a stranger, this isn't about the specifics of how he gets his rocks off - each to his own and all that. The trouble is that we've got a prurient tabloid media who enjoy the titillation of stories involving homosexual activity as if we were still in the 1970s and It Ain't Half Hot Mum was still acceptable viewing.

However, there are standards we can expect of our MPs, let's call them integrity, professionalism and accountability. Menzies made yet another bad choice and demonstrated a chronic lack of any of the three.

I'd never donate to a political party but if I did, I think I'd expect my donations to be put towards campaigns to have 'my' candidate elected, not towards his medical bills nor towards paying a ransom to get him out of a sticky situation into which he'd put himself. Furthermore, I would be raging if the party to which I'd donated was fully aware of this and sat on the story for three months hoping that it wouldn't see the light of day.

So, yes, Menzies may have a future but not as a politician. And it's bigger than just him; the party will need to go some to convince me that they've handled any of this with Sunak's integrity, professionalism or accountability.

At what point in any of an elites life will they need to see a General Practice Doctor on the NHS or rely on them for something?  They will most likely all have private health plans and/or their own private physicians on stand bye.   All this howling at the moon is for the last bastions of the party.  Custer had a better chance of winning that this mob.

If that's not what he intended to convey, he should be out there clarifying. And then he should be engaging a better speech writer. But I'm inclined to go with BfB's summary as being the intention.

I wonder what is evisaged to comprise this new,  world leading "specialist work and health professional" agency that will have responsibility for certification.  The mind boggles.

Publicly funded but outsourced to a private,  commercial contractor per chance?  No proper and open tendering process?  Contract mysteriously lands with friendly business interests?  By a remarkable coincidence a party donor perhaps?

Amirite?
