The auld farts thread

Anyone remember The Changes? 70s kids series, where something made everyone (bar a few) turn against machines, destroying them?

Just discovered and read through this whole thread - some cracking memories including the Changes from about 1975? Opening scenes were of electricity pylons iirc?

Anyone remember the cartoon Deputy Dawg? Used to like it as a kid but looking back now it was just totally racist

I don't, but thanks for reminding me of this fine chap!

Could never ever stand him or his ever so twee sister Molly, the fore runners to that other faux Scots person Neil Oliver.

Used to watch Daktari and Tarzan, the one starring Ron Ely as Tarzan and the wee boy Jai.

That had the cross eyed lion, Clarence ?

Talking about dubbed TV shows.

What about that Robinson Crusoe series originally from the 60's, French effort but with an amazing background track.

It was re-run numerous times right up until the 80's.

There was a great American TV show called "Tales of the Golden Monkey" in the early 80's. All about a pilot of a boat plane and his adventures. Sure he had a wee one eyed dug that ran about with them?

Think it was just 'gold' monkey but anyway, we remember that!

My wife says she recalls the dog was called Jack. She also thinks it was a Jack Russell but that's maybe taking it a wee bit too far.

It is Gold!! Dog looks like a mongrel? Could be Jack Russell?

Into my early teens by the time it came out, but this rocked.

This had come out a few years earlier and was the berries.

Any Auld Farts remember this? When I was a young en on a Saturday morning this was the program to watch. Absolutely ground breaking back then and paved the way for a whole host of clones.

I was a fan of Quizball, I vividly remember Jim Cruikshank as being the horse racing expert on the team. Our "celebrity guest" was the opera singer Ian Wallace.

Darth Sidious

Great thread folks.  Kid in the 80s, I remember going to my Gran's for lunch when at Primary School and waiting for Rainbow, Lets Pretend, Puddle Lane or Cockleshell Bay to start.  Before the kids show though there was a gardening show.  I am sure it was called Gardening Time.  To this day, I still catch myself humming the theme tune.  I can remember the host having real thick rimmed glasses.

Playing kerby and marbles along pavements.  Could never do that now with all the cars.  Think my kids think I am weird when I tell them what I did when I was younger.

My yesteryear musings:  Choc-a-Bloc (BBC Schools), Badger Girl, Choccy, Pigeon Street, You and Me, Lost in Space, Rocketeer (Black and White serial), Adventure Game, He Man and Transformers Gen 1.

Every time someone mentions Tales Of The Unexpected, I think about the episode where the guy bets I'm he can't get his lighter to light 10 times in a row and if he doesn't, the guy gets to cut off his thumb. In the end, the guy opens his box and he's got loads of thumbs
