Tore Andre Flo?

29 goals in 53 games is a very good record. It's the price tag that seems to cloud folks judgement of him

Tore Andre Flo?

Tore Andre Flo suffered form the expectation that ?12m would buy you 5 goals a game, what it actually bought was close to 40 goals in a season and a half, not exactly pish.

Bannan would instantly be the best player in the league if he signed, Christ even Kris Commons went from being a fairly average midfielder at a lower level down south to averaging a goal in 2 games here.

Hearts head coach Robbie Neilson does not expect to be conducting any more business in the transfer window.

Midfielder Kenny Anderson and goalkeeper Scott Gallacher have held talks with Neilson about their futures at Tynecastle.

They will decide over the next few days if they want to fight for their places.

"It will be up to them what they want to do," said Neilson ahead of Saturday's game with Hamilton. "I would rather guys go and play football."

And he added: "I don't want to keep guys here that are not going to play and they end up getting disillusioned a little bit.

Neilson signed defenders Blazej Augustyn, Juwon Oshaniwa and forwards Igor Rossi Branco, Juanma Delgado and Gavin Reilly earlier this summer and is happy with the squad he has assembled.

And he hopes no bids come in for any of his players as the clock ticks towards midnight on Tuesday, when the window closes in Scotland.

"There have been no more offers in for the players and I hope nothing comes in," he explained.

"From our point of view there is no one we are looking to bring in either but you never know what will turn up or what will happen.

"I have got a strong squad, a lot of good young players coming through as well."

    Great research BBC...

He's a good player and is undoubtedly versatile, but I don't see us playing up-front anytime soon except in the direst emergency!

Perhaps Flo is not the best example I don't think many are taking the general point we don't tend to look at player's on downward spirals. For some reason it hasn't happened for him not even in the Championship so no guarantees he would rip it up in the SPFL.

Andreu again someone not making a breakthrough.

Not disputing the ability but you have to question why he hasn't progressed given the ability that so many are glad to mention

I would take Barry Bannon in an absolute heartbeat. EPL quality & a Scotland capped player. Only about 25 years old too. Appreciate money may be a issue but if we are willing to pay at our top end (whatever that is) and offer bonuses etc. he may be willing to earn a bit less to get first team football after being released by Palace and put himself back in the shop window.

Stranger things have happened. 12 months contract???

(Of course all of this is assuming that Hearts are even interested in Barry Bannon).

Alex Neil sated Andreu needed game time and a period of adjustment which he can't afford to give him as he's under pressure for every point he can muster.  He knows him better than anyone having paid ?1 mill to take him down to Norwich.

Here's a snippet from an article at the end of Last season from AN:

?Tony has gone through an adjustment period. James McCarthy and James McArthur did the same when they left Hamilton and moved south,? Neil said, comparing the Frenchman to the Premier League duo, who play for Everton and Crystal Palace respectively.

?The game?s a lot different down here ? it?s very physical with a lot of quick, strong players. The problem I have at the moment is that I haven?t got time to let people adapt because we need to win every game.

?So that?s been difficult for Tony but we will see the best of him next season. I?ve no doubt about that.?

wow wow wow...

My point is he's another of those familiar midfielders without any real exception to his game. What you might call a safe midfielder.

It takes all kinds of players to make a team and Hearts arguably have a couple of those type in Gomis and Pallardo but they have experience and bring real energy and stability to Hearts.

I think we are looking to develop more all round midfielders with a bit of everything , which midfield should be all about , not just about being a defensive mid or an attacking mid.

And cut down on the wows will you mate. (Cringe)

Any 'cringe' on this thread should be solely reserved for your original comment about McKirdy over Bannan I'm afraid!

As for Bannan being a "safe" midfielder, I don't agree with that at all but that's just my opinion. If you asked BB to express himself as a number 10 for Hearts, he would do it with the cigars out, as someone else has already suggested.

It's a moot point, seeing as he is miles ahead of anything we could dream of signing anyway.

It really makes you wonder eh?!  Bannan would be an absolutely superb signing even on a loan deal. I would expect him to be one of our best in the last 20 years if we were to bring him in. I have absolutely no idea if there is any interest but he would be the perfect type of player for how RN wants us to play. He is really good technically on the ball, is happy to take it in tight areas under pressure and loves to play it on the deck and retain possession. He would link up very well with our other attacking players. Would easily fit into our setup and be a stand out. God alone knows who some think we even as a 'big' club in Scotland are in a position to sign.

Absolutely spot on. It's threads like this that really bring out the  on JKB!

I know its old hat now but with the predictable knuckle draggers that slate even the mere mention of a redtop as a source of note, was any credit given in that Murray DID go over and watch him???

...RN quoted as confirming this...

It's a rag, to be fair though there was some on this thread claiming Murray wasn't in Bulgaria which from Robbies own mouth wasn't the case.

I think they said he wasn't in Bulgaria a good couple of days after the story appeared in the Record.

They may well have been right. He could have been back by then.

Bazzas right boot

Tore Andre Flo?

He did stroll it, very good goal scoring record, it was his ludicrous price tag that mad him not worth it, if he was free or cost say  ?1m, he would have been a very good signing.

It's pleasing that our scouting goes to such lengths by seeking out unknowns (to the fans) in leagues all over Europe, go to watch them and then make a decision. Much better than "he played for Rangers / Hearts so he must be worth signing." scouting network across the city.

No neebor...

I am though pointing out the absolute zoomers on here to cant think for themself and jump on any bandwaggon to slate and have a go at, which at times is the mere mention of a redtop...as if to say they themself are ITK and get their tip-bits straight frm the horses mouth type thing...

...I couldnt give a toss about the DR it is the moronic numbers on here that condem any mention of ANY media outlet...

...EEN...redtops...you name it they jump on it...its playground stuff at best...

So again no aint defending the DR but maybe you have been one, thats shouted them down time and time again along with every other media outlet as if to say you know better (insert any rofl character.....)

I detest the Daily Record for the way they treated a friend during a horrific, highly publicised bereavement. Disgusting paper.

Their football section is an Old Firm fanzine.

I get your point about slating every media outlet on here though. There are a few good Scottish football writers.

Interesting that RN thought he was a good player but trusted John Murray's opinion that he wasn't good enough. Teamwork  :2thumbsup:

John Murray didn't rate him . John fecking Murray !!! FFS. I wouldn't send that erse for a pint of milk, far less send him across Europe to give his opinion on a very highly rated ( by everyone apart from Murray) under 21 Bulgarian international. Ridiculous that this utter failure is still employed by the club, never mind making key decisions like this.

Was he the guy who gave John McGlynn the managers job?

That alone would have been grounds for dismissal.

Was it Gary Mackay who was a very open vocal critic of John Murray?

I think lots of people were critical of him and surprised that he was kept on after the Management changes. But you have to assume that CL and RN etc have faith in him otherwise he would not still be here.

I think there were a few people who questioned John Murray following his appointment as Director of Football. His "specialised" field was always scouting players and I think now that he is back in his correct position his judgement will be more easily accepted (like every scout I'm sure there will be the odd player he doesn't fancy that goes on to be successful somewhere else, but that is part and parcel of life).

As much of a legend as he is (and a great player even towards the tail end of his career when I started watching), Gary Mackay criticises everything and everyone - he's a bitter man.
