Tazio
Pretty shocking new about Ivan Basso today. Real shame for the guy and hopefully the diagnosis is early enough to be treated. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/cycling/33509974

Lost more time yesterday and team don't look great. Set to be interesting though. I think a lot of people's problems toward Froome is that he probably doesn't show enough emotion, he never looks like he's hurting in the mountains, never seems too bothered when he gets beaten, compare that to the likes of Contador and Nibali and even Quintana. Maybe it's the stiff upper lip that comes about from being born in Kenya

One of reasons I dislike him was after the stage in 2013 when he started whinging at Contador for going too fast on a descent.

Ribble
Sorry for going a little bit off topic but does anyone have any idea of anywhere that would buy tour/cycling memorabilia? Craig Gordons Gloves
Unfortunately, it looks like the Tour could be won already. I get what you're saying as this was a real statement by Froome to basically say - 1st climb, catch me if you can. However, i also think that we'll see a few of the other contenders do something over some of the upcoming stages to try and attack Sky and Froome and in a couple of places it will probably pay off. Nibali at 7 mins behind might be out of it but i think that Van Garderen, Quintanta & Contador have the ability to do make up some of that gap. I also think Pinot will show up for at least one stage pretty soon.

Adam Murray
Great looking stage today where the four mountain passes just get bigger and bigger with an HC finish on top of the Plateau De Beille, if any of the GC contenders want to make a challenge to Froome they may have to do it today as it could be too late if they leave it to the Alps. First mountain pass today is the Col de Portet d'Aspet where Olympic road race champion of 1992 Fabio Casartelli lost his life on a tricky descent almost 20 years to the day. All roads lead to Gorgie
I could see someone going for glory again as Majka did yesterday but unlikely to be Martin as he put in such a big effort to grab second. I think the main contenders will swallow up any breaks today however as time is not on the side of the chasers.

All roads lead to Gorgie
Froome answered all the questions asked by countering the multiple attacks but again Thomas and Porte were the ones who paced him so well. The only thing I could see troubling Froome now is if either of them have to pull out. Congrats to Rodriguez for a deserved stage win.
Craig Gordons Gloves
I watched the last hour before going to work this morning - feel for Kwiatkowski, watching him be passed b the chasers, then the leaders and then the 2nd group shows how much riding like that can take out of you. Cheeky wee 'sprint' from Valverde at the end giving Froome something to think about - only a couple of seconds but it's more the psychology of showing that you can do that at the end of a gruelling day. Watching Sky riders take the pace at the beginning of the final climb and drop off when each was done was a great example of team cycling. Still hoping that Nibali can burst away for a 10 minute win in a stage soon (not going to happen). Van Garderen is looking very comfortable keeping pace to remain 2nd. Enjoying this tour alot. siegementality
Aye Chris, Lance didnt test positive either.Interesting. So every leader/winner of the Tour de France is going to be suspected of doping? Someone has to be in the lead and someone has to win it. Usually the person who wins it has led the race at some point previously. The most consistent rider overall wins the race. By casting doubt over Froome is surely to doubt cast over everyone who has ever led or won the tour? Like Roger Federer, Tiger Woods, Messi, Robbie O'Sullivan, Michael Schumacher, Steve Redgrave, et al, it just has to be accepted that some people excel in their field of sport. Froome at this moment in time is no different.

It grinds my gears when we have a rider with the talent of Froome and some people can't see the talent of him, and Team Sky overall, without casting doubt. Froome has been a talented rider for several years. If the truth be told he would have won it in 2012 as well as 2013 had he been allowed to (I know how it all works) cos he had the beating of Wiggins without doubt. Adam Murray
What if you don't bother doubting and the cheaters win and get away with it? Maybe I'm not as cynical as some. When I see a great individual performance on the football field, a world record at track and field, or Bradley Wiggins breaking the hour record, my first instinct isn't to cast doubt over it, but to acclaim it for what it is at that moment. Anyways, how do we know that someone who has cheated and won something has got away with it, if they haven't actually been caught cheating? :-/
