Had it not been for that outrageous assualt at Kilmarnock, on his return debut, I'm sure Neil would have been a good signing for us. Regardless, he was a Hearts legend.

Anyway, good news that 2 big wage drains have left the club. Tall improved this season but was nowhere near value for money. McCann was one of the worst signings the club ever made. Best of luck to them both in the future.

Ibby in my opinion was our best defender but not 8k+ worth.

Neil just was not the player we hoped he'd be. Hope he has more luck and stays injury free at Falkirk. We'll always remember the young Neil McCann who destroyed the Hun defence at Parkhead in the sleet. An all time Hearts great.

 

Ibby, a cup winner who put in a few great performances and a whole lot of average ones. I think most Hearts fans will remember him fondly.

Probably only Jose is a high earner out of that lot though. I'd probably get rid of Michael Stewart as well although he may prove to be a useful squad player under a decent manager.

His contract is up in August so obviously they want to give him a chance to find another club and get a pre season in with that club.

 

Makes sense letting him go now.

But this time he will have taken a million pounds for 20 awful games. Awful performances, jumping out of tackles in most of them. And then to put a final insult in - he gets an operation rather than play while we are a hole with few players and a struggle to get out of the bottom six - rather than face a 'bit of discomfort'. Did anyone who saw him play in Neilson's game think that he could perhaps have played for us and earned a bit of his wages in the games before that? Not that I would have wanted him to play but it is the principle

As said above, in my view the tackle at Kilmarnock was just a strong tackle which cleanly won the ball.

 

I think McCann in this spell for the reasons I posted above (bottling out of tackles, failing to get on the field due to 'discomfort', rotten performances) is probably the worst value for money we have had in the last 2 seasons.

That's what I've seen when I've seen him play for Hearts. You are entitled to take a different view.

No problem with either of them. Tall was always here for the money and took a bit too long to get going, McCann was always past his best but seems to have had a good attitude and we have probably benefitted from having him around when morale was at some all time lows!

 

Best wishes to both but neither will be greatly missed. So best to clear the decks and rebuild.

2 of the worst signings in Hearts history off the books (neither of them bad players). I'm quite happy at this. Still think it would've made more sense to take whatever we were offered for Ibby last summer as by then it was obvious he was never going to get a regular starting berth.

McCann was unlucky 2nd time round, but it cost Hearts a lot of money to him him.

Sad to see Tall go, but no one at Hearts deserves the reported 8K he was on. A pretty good defender, if a couple of inches too small IMO.

 

Glad to see he's off the wage bill though. Sad to see the Wee man leave too, but he spent far too long on the treatment table for the wages he was on.

 

Good luck to both, would not surprise me if Neil has a stonking season playing for Falkirk as Hughes plays exactly the sort of football that will suit McCann.

While I revelled in Neil McCann's wing play during his first spell with us I do not think he will be missed this time round, although I wish him well.

 

Ibrahim Tall could have been a great defender for us, he is an example of another player we have wasted, not used fully, and not in his correct position until after most of the damage had been done with regards his relationship with the owner, and his desire to stay at Tynecastle. Players of this level should be getting encouraged to stay here, but his talent is now lost to us. Again I hope he proves to be very successful wherever he goes.

I wonder how much that, and his early days failure at Hearts, was down to his reported laid back style. That said, being laid back at Hearts should have seen him fit right in.

 

There is no denying his appearances for us playing in midfield were painful to watch but IMO he looked pretty decent this season when he played in the centre of defence.

 

On the plus side it's a fair whack off our wage bill.
