We stumbled across it during the festival a couple of years ago and when in the Southside pop in for a couple of beers. I think it might have had McSorleys/ Doghouse livery to start with but its just the Doghouse now. Doctor FinnBarr
You townies had it easy with pubs, deeper darker West Lothian was a joy to behold in the late 70s, early 80s. Blackburn even to this day isn't a great place to go drinking but way back then......Stoneyburn had the Green Tree and Ewington Hotel (ran by Dirty Fred), Bents along the road had Annie Kerrs (Bentswood Inn) and Addiewell had the Cambridge bar, all very scary places to drink in if you were an incomer. I got away with Stoneyburn/Bents because I went to school with loads of the locals, Cambridge bar became a no no after one visit because they attended West Calder High. Think out of those 4 the Ewington is the only one still on the go
AngleParkMenace
Met the manager of the grapes the other day. Says it’s been taken over a year ago and has since had no trouble. Not been in myself so can’t confirm but hopefully they’ve sorted it out. Use to be one of the cheapest pubs in Edinburgh so that may have had something to do with it

Only to have a guy come up to us and rattle a bucket full of money and ask threateningly for a donation “for the boys in Ireland” You should’ve thrown up in the bucket. You could tell the non local by the fact that everyone bar us had Red Hand t shirts on. Masonic shut now but think all the aforementioned locals staggered next door and now reside in Coppies Bar. Or the Regal, prime location in Armadale right at the cross and you still have to suffer Rangers songs, the Sash etc on the jukebox, such a waste of a pub. Strangely enough after taking some friends on a pub crawl round Armadale recently the only place we were asked what team they supported was in the Catholic Club. A few pubs in Armadale still have their pet flute bands that practice in them, annoyingly sometimes during drinking hours. Worst pub in the 'Dale was probably The Star nicknamed the flying tumbler and named for a good reason but again long gone.

We all have different opinions which is fair enough, I enjoy the different selections of beers they offer, there is a board up on the left hand side of the bar, stating the beers, and what type of beer they are. I enjoy a stout/porter type beer especially the imperial ones, which they always have. Great bar, great beers, IMO.
