Did anyone else play the GPS at the Circus a week or two ago?

I did, it was the worst I've ever run in a tournament. Dealt big pocket pairs continually (some that turned into sets) and was at a table of calling stations. Sounds great, but every draw they decided to call with got there on the river :-( I'm not even exaggerating when I say that I got called down 3 times when somebody had just the gutshot draw with me betting about 3/4 pot on flop and turn and each time it got there. The most frustrating thing? They weren't even good to get proper value on the river when their draws got there! It could have been a really good table draw but it just never turned out that way.

I eventually went out after being dealt pocket Jacks UTG. At 150,300 (ante of 25 or 50, can't remember!) I made it 1000 (i started the hand with about 16,000) and got callers from the cutoff and SB, so about 4k in the pot. Flop comes 10,6,3 rainbow, SB checks and I bet 3,500. Cutoff folds and SB calls. Turn's the Queen of spades, putting two spades on the board. Not thinking it was a danger card but knowing how bad I was running I decided to just try and take it there so move all in. SB says he's prepared to gamble (he only just had me covered) and calls, turning over 2,6s. The river was a 6...

Great structure to the tournament though, I'll definitely play it again next year.

Has anyone seen my Full Tilt money? :sob:

I didn't have any money on FT so haven't kept in touch with latest news. Has there been any progress?

Some French guy nearly bought the company. It was meant to be that he was going to relaunch the site and take responsibility for the money owed to the rest of the world players, and that the Department of Justice was to take responsibility of the money owed to US players...something like that anyway....But the deal fell through a couple of months ago.

Now there is a rumour about Pokerstars buying it.

Think it's just time to accept that it's gone :(

There's another ?160 2 day event starting a week on Sunday at Genting which I'm looking forward to, have been 1st then 5th in the last 2 so would be nice to keep the run of final tables going!

On a separate note, congratulations to Chris Ferguson (regular Genting Edinburgh player) who won UKIPT Newcastle tonight. Think it was ?89k he scooped- must be nice!

Does anyone play the cash games at the genting casino? Is it worth going along with only ?50

What time do they normally start?

Ended up going to the casino last night, was there for 9 but the 50p-50p cash table didnt open till 11:30 although all the other cash tables were open earlier.

Anyway only took ?40 and ended up walking away with ?354.50.

That was with me tipping the dealers for about ?20 throughout the night including ?9 at the end for my good run, which is quite good considering some other players dont tip much at all.

Lost ?23 on my last hand but also took a big hit early on with AK against A4 with the other guy hitting two pair and took me for ?60.

Had to grind hard as there was some good players.

I got knocked out yesterday afternoon - Aces cracked by A,Q, all in pre. Gutted, I would have been well ahead of the chip average if I won the hand!

Whereabouts? Hadn't noticed that!

I'll see if I can dig it out for you, it was in one of the earlier reports.

It says something like....''Andy ****T clearly out his depth in this field and should stick to Nuts poker league games''

:laugh4: What can I say, it was a tough table draw- I had Jake Cody two to my right all day and the overall chip leader two to my left, who was playing some fundamentally awful poker but smashing every flop :-(

Nice to make day 2 for the first time in a UKIPT though :-D

Here it is....(not sure if u want your name on here so **** out)

2.35pm: Cody gets played back at

Jake Cody had a fruitful first two levels where he seemed to win most of the medium sized pots on offer. His opponents are catching on to his style of play though and fighting back.

The Team PokerStars Pro opened to 325 from under the gun and was called in the next seat before Andy ****t three-bet to 850 from mid position. Both players called to the 2?4?4? flop where they check-folded to ****t's 1,700 c-bet.

The very next hand David Blacklaw completed from the small blind and Cody checked his option before he bet 150 on the J?A?J? flop. Blacklaw check-called and bet 250 on the 5? river after both players checked the 6? turn. Cody folded quickly. The "newbie" sits on 25,000 chips and is sipping Redbull to stay alert. -- MC

Vamplew looking good

1.25pm: Chip counts

Below are 100% accurate chip counts from the break, David Vamplew and Nicolau Villa-Lobos have two thirds of the chips in play between them.

Nicolau Villa-Lobos, Brazil, 2,430,000

Przemyslaw Dajer, Poland, PokerStars Player, 1,410,000

David Vamplew, United Kingdom, PokerStars Qualifier, 3,610,000

Chris Derrick, United Kingdom, PokerStars Qualifier, 980,000

Vladislav Donchev, Bulgaria, PokerStars Qualifier, 710,000

1.20pm: Back from the break

The players are now back in their seats and play is underway once more. -- NW

LEVEL UP: BLINDS 25,000-50,000 ante 5,000

1.05pm: More for Vamplew

There's just no stopping David Vamplew right now as he just won the last pot before the break.

He opened to 80,000 and got calls from Vladislav Donchev (button), Chris Derrick (small blind) and Nicolau Villa-Lobos (big blind). The dealer fanned a 5?7?9? flop, Vamplew c-bet 160,000 and Donchev was the only caller.

The two of them then checked down the 5? turn and J? river Vamplew showed 4?4? which was good to take the pot.

The players are now on a 15 minute break, we'll be getting official chip counts during it. -- NW

12.55pm: Jamie Sykes eliminated in 6th place (?17,000)

This is fast becoming the David Vamplew show. He just got somewhat lucky to eliminated the dangerous Jamie Sykes is a cold hand.

Sykes opened the pot with an under the gun raise to 85,000 and Vamplew three-bet to 183,000. The action was back on Sykes who four-bet to 325,000 then called all in for around 1,200,000 chips when Vamplew shoved.

Sykes: K?K?

Vamplew: A?K?

The 5?T?7? was safe for Sykes.

The J? turn opened up half the deck for Vamplew's hand now and prompted Sykes to say. "You have far too many outs, you have to miss!"

The river fell as A? to send a spike through Syke's house. He took the loss well and wished everyone luck. As he walked off we heard him say, "Yawn" to his railing buddy, Team PokerStars Pro Jake Cody.

Vamplew is up to 3,600,000 chips now and on fire. -- MC

1.40pm: Chris Derrick eliminated in 5th place (?21,150) Long-time leader from earlier days, Chris Derrick, has seen his ride come to an end in 5th place. He was eliminated by Nicolau Villa-Lobos but the real damage was done by Vladislav Donchev the hand before. David Vamplew opened to 100,000 before Donchev moved all in for 740,000 from the small blind and Derrick followed suit for a little more from the big blind. Vamplew folded to leave them heads up. Donchev: 4?4? Derrick: K?Q? The board ran 8?8?3?J?7? to miss Derrick's...more

Anyone happen to be registering for the Cork event next month?

Unfortunately not mate, paying for my wedding this year will have to take priority over any more ?500+ tournies.

There's going to be a "Scottish Poker Series" at the Maybury at the end of March with a ?275 main event as well as the Genting Series later in the year- that's going to have to be my lot this year :-(

  • 2 months later...

Lass is on holiday, so went swimming after work last night and had an urge to go to the casino after. ?13 buy in with ?20, ?20 top ups.. Spent ?33.

With 26 players left I had about 155 of the chips. I had about a quarter of them hitting the final table with one other player with another quarter.. The blinds rose quick and the anti's were high and the other players were letting the blinds walk..(so weak) So I got aggressive and was betting every second hand, any position, the other big stack was poor, eg. On his big blind someone pushed all in against him for about 40k. He had 200 behind him and he folded and showed an A... What a weak play.. I would have had it in so fast the table would be smoking in that situation.. He was like.. o I might have been behind, statistic. blah blah blah.. Its trournament poker and you play the chip stacks and the players.. its not a cash game.. So that annoyed me..

4 left (I was miles ahead and the other big stack is now acting after me.. I raise every hand and everyone folds.. It was great. I felt great... Looked down at AK on my small blind, raised about 4 x BB and the boy pushed all in.. I called, he had AQ and he hit his Q... I doubled him up and all of a sudden it was even.. I took out the 4th player as I just kept pushing and it was 4am and I was to be at work at 8. Bearing in mind I live 50 mins drive away.. Oooops..

So I offered them a 3 way split.. SO got ?600 and they threw in a seat for the ?110 game this weekend...

Good result for my first trip to the card room for about 18 months!

I am knackered today.. had to work till 8pm... eeeek.

Still.. should be fun on Saturday.
