sounds good.

Just noticed you're online- Jonny and I were thinking about heading along for the 3 sisters game tonight as my 5s season has finished. Have you ever played that game?

Any of you guys use sharkscope?

Playing a sit and go at the moment and could tell that one of the players was rotten.

Checked his stats and he is $18,000 down.

Crazy.

have done in the past....and can be good for general info

can be misleading tho as im sure it only shows u stats for sit n gos.....not tourtnament play

so if youve lost 300 in sit n go and won 1000 in tourney play youll look like a losing player.

been a while since i used it, mibi changed since

Whats the 3 sisters league about.. Whats the buy in? Time and prizes / quality etc?

Never played in it mate so can't tell you about quality, but it's part of the Nuts Poker league (I play at Diane's on mondays which has rank rotten players but also at least 15 "good" players- 3 or 4 very good). Think you have to register by 8, and buy in is an optional ?5- places are only paid between those who pay.

Getting to the final table (with more points obviously being earnt by those who place better) earns you points for 2 leagues, the first being a local venue league where the top 25% get qualification into an all Edinburgh tournament at the end of the season and the second being an Edinburgh league from all the venues (can't remember what that qualifies you for). I'm 3rd in the Diane's league and comfortably in the 25% there, but only scraping in the Edinburgh league because (until tonight) I've only played at one venue (luckily it's the venue with the biggest fields so final tables are worth more). I've played 6 tournaments, some people have played almost 26!

Its part of the Nuts Poker League. Each Venue has a league table which you earn points every time you reach the last 8.

The amount of points you get depends on your final position and the amount of people that started. The more people that play the more points you get.

Its free to play, however there is a optional buy in of 5 pound and normally the top 3 who buy in gets paid. Depending on the amount who buy in the prizes are normally around 10/20/40.

Starts at around 8.15 to 8.30. Blinds increase every 20mins.

In terms of quality the standard is normally very good. There are a few donkeys around through as it is free to play.

Maybe its just me, but when someone says top prize of about ?40 I kind of lose interest. I love playing poker, but I love winning money at poker even more. I think D-McG will agree with me that once you've had a few wins at the casino, (4 now for me, Best was a ?10 buy in, didn't re-buy and won ?1,870 ;) ) you really want to be playing for bigger money.

Can't disagree with that.

I get bored if I think of playing for hours to win ?40.

Might head along to the re-buy tonight, not sure though. I vowed never return after spending about 50 quid 3 weeks ago on it.

I understand what you mean but I just enjoy playing poker at any level. The Nuts Poker League is good to learn new things about your game and test wee things out without spending a large amounts of your money. I treat the games I play during the week as my training for the casino.

This means when you play at the casino your in better shape to win like I did when I won 925 at the Sat night 30 pound freezeout at the Circus a couple weeks ago at my first attempt. :)

Came 9th at the casino last night. No cash.

Last hand I had AQ, was raised preflop and I called followed by another caller.

Flop is A Q 4, rainbow. I put in min raise, second caller goes all in and original raiser folds. ... mmm... I call ..

Pocket 4s... Gutted! good night and thank you!

Didn't rebuy once though so thats good.

lol

with hindsight I could have reraised preflop to force the 44 out of the hand. I considered this but re-raising with AQ can lead to a lot of trouble.

So I declare I played it correctly and would do the same again

Anyone going to the rebuy at the Circus casino tonight?

Me and a couple of mates went last week. Got told it was a freezeout so was less than impressed when it turned out it was a rebuy! Decided to play anyway though and ended up being pleasently suprised that people actually played properly. Rebought once but went out in 12th just missing the final table, gutted! Mates went out 13th and 11th as well, so close yet so far!

Haha no I don't but one of the mates I was with calls himself "the green arrow"! You might be thinking of him? I went with 2 other guys and we all ended up on the same table at the end and went out about the same time. Were you there? Which one were you?

Yep, the green arrow, that was it! I joined the table towards the end, was wearing the cap, sitting next to the green arrow. Haha.

Went last night, finished 10th. Total sheeeite. Went out first hand of the final table despite the fact I was sitting 3rd in chips.

I'm going to start folding pocket jacks from the beginning now.

playing cash game at Fountainbridge on thurs night

10 players , had got my 100 quid up to about 300, played well and was late on ,about to leave when....

4 limp for 10 quid , next guy raises to 25

i call, its probably my last hand, everyone else folds

flop comes...... Qs Jd 6s

ive got Qc 9c

1st guy goes 70 quid

This guy was obviously 'a regular'...he knew everybody etc, and hadnt played a hand of any worth in the 3 hours i was there.

I try and get a read on him though and tell him....''i put you on AJ Spades ''

To which he practically jumps out his seat.....He DOES have AJ spades.im convinced.

Im sure im ahead at this point but not sure if I wanna play what im sure will be an all-in hand at the end of the night and risk destroying all my good work(he had about 500 in front of him).

I turn over my Queen (without folding) to show him how im sitting and hes shaking like a leaf .....i am in no doubt im ahead and hes on AJ spades.

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?

call 70?

raise?

raise all in?

fold?

interested in any opinions...will reveal my own action in next post:cool:

I'd honestly fold it.

Playing these sort of hands a nightmare because you can never tell where you are if somebody raises ahead of you.

If you call, you should be looking for more information- unless you hit a Queen or Nine here, what more information are you going to get (unless the guy's got a stick-on, unbelievable tell)?

You've also not got enough information for either of the raise options- I know you've said the guy looked nervous and you got a reaction from him, but (without playing against him) I'd still be thinking a lot of his range would have you beat. How would he play Jacks? How would he play 6s? How would he play A,Q or K,Q preflop? One way to get information is to see what he does to a reraise, but in this case you'd be pot-committed after so again I think you should fold.

I've put myself in this situation quite a few times live or online and I always leave telling myself if I've decided I'll go at the end of this hand I should actually go- and if you get dealt a distinctly average hand remember there's no reason why it should suddenly play well for you just because you're going!

To be fair, I wouldn't have called 25 quid with Q9 as that situation to be in is not good.

You really are taking a gamble whatever you do after that flop.

Firstly I've never played a cash game but as was said above, personally wouldn't call ?25 with a Q 9 if I was playing.

Having said that, having got into that position, if I was as convinced as you were that he only had the jack i would be tempted to raise him all in and give him a tough decision. In reality though I would probably bottle it and fold and quit while I was still ahead and had won some cash!

sorry,....was 'sitting out' there !!

and giving D McG time to respond

anyway

I folded

wasnt going home skint after 3 hours of faultless play

guy revealed his AJ spades and took his pot with relief, he didnt want action after i told him his cards.

dealer dealt out what wouldave happened...blank , blank....i would have won if all chips were in.

probably would have won if id called his 70 (no spade or A on 4th st) and if id gone that far i was defo in for the rest

probably would have won if id raised, defo if raised all in (think he would fold)

.

he said a funny thing after it though........i asked what would he have done if id called ....he said he would have offered to split the pot with me??? If Id gone with only river to come no way would I split (especially if hes asking me to!!).

It would have been too costly to find out if you were wrong.

Cash can be hellish when you lose a big pot near the end.

A few months back I sat down at a cash table with about 60 quid. By about 4am I was up to around 450, announced I would be leaving the table when the button came back round to me. Fold everything, button comes and I get pocket Kings, one last payoff before going home?

I raised it to 20 quid and got called by T9 suited. Flop came A94 rainbow. He bet 40 quid, and I was sitting thinking, I'll call this bet and see what happens on the turn. I call it and another Ace comes out! He checks it to me, and this is where I made my mistake, I checked, thinking I've probably got this pot now. The river comes what I thought was a blank and he pushed all in.

I was so, so, so focussed on the fact that I was sure he didn't have an Ace, and I'd seen this guy go silly with his money on bluffs.

I thought for ages and eventually made the call, he turns over his T9 and to my utter disgust I hadn't noticed that there was 3 diamonds on board by the river and he had hit his flush.

Probably the most sickening hand I've ever played.

It would really depend how the guy had been playing tbh and how I felt at the time. It would be a gutsy move, but even if u were right about the AJ of spades he could still make a call and plenty of outs.

Could hit another Jack, an Ace or a spade and ur screwed.

I think I'd have folded as well, even if I felt I was ahead, would have been a big risk if you had been wrong.

If you get far on in the game expect to be there well after 2am :sleepy:

the game at circus last night must have taken 7 or more hours (guessing) for a field of approx 50

the online game I played last night took 5 1/2 hours with a field of approx 360

Online the computer shuffles and deals in about 5 secs. Casino it can take 1 min to do this.

Still there is no better feeling than staring down an opponent who has just raised you and you're trying to work out what he is on about. Then his face when you call his total bluff with your 2nd pair when the board had also paired up! Priceless!

Just had a bizzare hand online there. Limped from first to act with 7's, there was another limp then an all-in from a shorty. Which was then called by the button, it was only another 500 to me and I had 2,600 so I called and so did the other limper.

4 way pot!

Flop comes out K67!

I bet 200 into the massive pot to entice a raise, which duly comes!

4 of us all in at this stage!

Me with my trip 7's, someone else with pocket aces, someone else with trip 6's and the other with trip K's!

I took the big sidepot as thankfully it was the shorty who had the best hand!
