I've got a bet on with a boy at work that Froome won't win it based on nothing other than I don't like him for some reason, (Froome, not the boy from work). I don't know why I don't like him. Been watching since the early 80's and have a feeling this could be a good one.

I agree. He has a bit of an 'edge' to him and comes across as aloof and arrogant - a sharp contrast to the matey Wiggins and bampot Cavendish.

Going to enjoy it this year as I won't be getting too involved rooting for Wiggins and just want it to be lively and close. Still want Cav to destroy them on the sprints though....there are few finer sights in sport.

All roads lead to Gorgie

Love the Tour not only for the race but also love getting the maps out and following the route. Plan to go over soon but this year cash going to more worthy cause. Froome has a big chance I feel.

I wouldn't rule out Contador. The TDF is a complicated race to win and he knows how to do it. As a big cycling fan part of me doesn't want Froome to win it, nothing to do with him though. Team Sky are like the England rugby team of a few years ago, they win by grinding it playing a safe percentage game with no real place for individual flair.

Whatever happens the monstrous climbs should mean that someone other than a time trial specialist should have a good chance this year. Froome can do both so if Sky get it right then sadly he has a very good chance.

Can't see Evans winning it and tbh i don't want him in contention. His squeeky voice when getting interviewed riles me, i can't listen to him without continually clearing my throat.

I'd like to see a comeback victory for Contador.

Contador can GTF as well as far as I'm concerned. Valverde or Quintana maybe.

I am correct in thinking Nibali is missing the Tour this year to concentrate on the Worlds? With him missing I say Froome yellow and Cav green. As someone said above Cav is in great form just now and Froome needs to prove he can be the team leader at the Tour.

Contador is just too ******* pretty. Hope he falls on his face. Great cyclist though.

Evans casually dropped into the Giro at the last minute and finished on the podium. He's strong.

It'll probably be Froome but Sky without Sean Yates have lost a bit of the magic for me and I don't particularly want them to do well.

Can't wait.

Hope Cavendish gets the green jersey again but Sagan will have the backing to go for it again.

The yellow is tougher. Can Froome do it? I have my doubts.

I'm not saying he will win it, but i think Ritchie porte will have a say in what happens.

How is the Green jersey points awarded this year, intermediate sprints and stage wins or purely stage wins?

Refreshment Barrier

Want Cavendish to win, especially in Paris so we get a good FIVE as he crosses the line, next year he'll do a FIVE ONE - think Froome will win and the betting suggests that apart from Contador there is no-one else in with a shout.

Providing there's no crashes Cavendish will win in Paris.

What stage is everyone looking forward to most? I'm all up in the business of 15. The Ventoux on Bastille Day. Zut Alors, I'm looking forward to that.

Every stage.

I don't believe in red hot favourites for the Tour. Froome has to get through three weeks without illness or crashes and I don't think Sky are as strong as they were. I don't wish him ill and I'm a bit Geraint Thomas fan but there's just something about Froome I don't like.

Has Evans been confirmed as lead for BMC? Had a feeling he might be supporting Van Garderen.

Froome will be favourite but more due to the support he will get by Team Sky, the likes of Contador and Evans are more than equal to Froome in my opinion but neither have the team to provide the level of support required for a GC!

Outsiders for the GC could be the likes of Hesjedal, Van Den Broeck and Joaquim Rodriguez.

I'm sure I read somewhere that BMC are having 3 leaders. Evans I'd their guy though.

I'll be supporting Hesjedal though he's got no chance. I'm daft for Garmin, David Millar is my favourite cyclist so I hope he at least finishes.

After Evans late entry into the Giro I kinda felt it might signal that he was dropping down for le tour but after he done well and looked on form it might be a case of BMC having no defined leader for the first few days and whoever has the best start getting the nod as leader for the rest of the tour!

Really not sure who I am going to follow this year, in the last couple of years I've wanted Evans then Wiggins to get the Tour wins that their careers deserved, not really got anyone like that this year and like others (for an unknown reason) I can't take to froome!

I don't know what it is about Froome, he's nowhere near as likeable as Wiggins. Probably his accent.

I can't take to Froome either. Will be hoping to see some great stuff from Contador on the climbs, so probably going to back him. Cav for the sprints obviously but we could see some brilliant stuff between him and Sagan.

There are some absolute killers in there. Stages 18-20 being a particularly nasty way to spend a few days.

I like the look of the Ventoux as well. (Might take an afternoon off work for that one and Alpe D'Huez as well.) A long, long ride, and then a beasting climb at the end. Welcome to the mountains.

I think cav will struggle for the points jersey this year,Sagan deals better with the hilly stages. They're both great entertainment tho and I can't wait for TDF to start.

Contador is a sleazy prick. Never liked him, even before the drug nonsense.

Agree about Contador but mainly because I doubt we will ever know if the sight of him accelerating like an absolute demon up the side of mountains (before being caught for drug use) was truly an amazing feat of extreme physical and mental ability or just an average rider doped up to the eyeballs!

Looking forward to this. I fancy Froome for the win, as long as it's not Contador I'll be happy. Pinot could be a dark horse. If anyone fancies it, I've got a Kickback league started in road.cc fantasy cycling game. League id is 76549 and its free and a decent crack.

Simpson, Boardman, Wiggins, Miller and one other?

Don't think Robert Millar ever wore yellow? I remember Yates winning a stage I think but don't think he wore yellow.

Tom Simpson is one. I'm quite sure.
