Is there not some irony in your position in that, should Scotland ever gain independence, you would likely never have to worry about another Tory government again. :cool_shades:

http://www.statistics.gov.uk/CCI/nugget.asp?ID=277

Provisional estimates show that for the calendar year 2007 the UK recorded a government deficit of ?39.4 billion, which was equivalent to 2.8 per cent of gross domestic product (GDP)

Also you have to remember these figures are fudged. No PFI debt is included in this. Also the loan to the NR is not added either. They have classed this as a '3 year loan' with the 'possibility' of an extension. This conveniently means that they can keep this off the official debt figures.

Britains REAL ratio of debt to GDP is probably more like 5%. And that is down to Labour. 100%. :)

I look at things probably a bit to simplistic and selfishly but IMO public services are pretty much the same however the tax we all pay has went up a substantially.

10 years of Labour yet they are still blaming the Tories and are still taxing the life out of the country.

History will show Baroness Thatcher to be Britain's second greatest Prime Minister after Sir Winston Churchill.

She smashed the unions who were holding the country to ransom, got rid of outdated and uncompetitive industries, and delivered a new vibrant economy in time for the 21st century. Britain has a lot to thanks her for.

Is anyone else a little shocked at how brainwashed some people really are ?

I vote conservative but I can see mistakes they have made in the past. They will no doubt make mistakes in the future too.

However some of the labour posters on this thread actually just BELIEVE everything that they are told by the labour.....

I am actually quite shocked. I know people can be easily swayed but this takes it to a new level. Do these people not want to think for themselves ?

Ditto !!!

There is a lot of hate towards her. No doubt she ****ed a lot of things up but if you compare the country when she took over to when she left, she certainly improved a lot of things.

And at least she had some balls to stand by her convictions. Unlike a certain Gordon..............

The thing is many Labour voters see themselves more as supporters, just as we are Hearts fans, they will turn out and vote (more often than not) even if they dont agree with how their party is being run...as do most of us turn up for hearts games even though we may not like the reigeme.

The bottom line there is that politics isnt a sport or hobby, its very serious and touches all of our lives; these kind of people who will vote labour no matter what and are too stubburn to realise that the only people they are kidding are themselves and they are not only hurting themselves but the rest of us too.

Indeed there would be parts of the UK; inner northern cities such as Glasgow, where Labour could actually field a Baboon as a candidate for MP and it would get elected....thats how deluded these people really are...shame.

To you tories, who created the underclass in glasgow in the first place, doing away with all the heavy industry jobs(wait for the tory it was all the unions fault), yip it was the Grantham Gremlin herself, of course that's after she created a diddy war against Argentina,by removing the Endeavor(I think it was called) from the South Atlantic. And most of you commenting on her weren't even at school when "it" was Prime Minister, the country only started to turn round once she was punted out of office by her own side. I now for the first time ever look forward to an independent Scotland to ensure we are never ruled by that lot again.

Have to say I agree, I hate Labour with a passion, and I feel they are by far the worst party to govern Great Britain in my lifetime. I cant be arsed going into reasons why because quite simply politics bore me (I know they shouldn't, but they do), but I have never felt so let down, so taxed to the hilt, so lied to and backstabbed (hell I could be talking about Romanov here too lol!!) and never ever felt before that the country was in such a poor state.

To be frank, I don't trust any one party to run the country competently.

I voted labour when I was a student. Once they got into power I realised that they don't stick to their principles.

I am genuinely worried about my pension - thanks Gordon. I will probably have to work until I'm 80 before I can afford to retire.

What we need is a government to come in and take a hard line with the following issues:

- taxes - time to cut fuel tax to take into account all the price rises. Alistair Darling will still get the same in anyway. All the tax rises - fuel, beer, etc are being used to pay for extra benefits for the work-shy labour schemies who will always vote Labour because its easier than getting a job.

- council tax - i'm not in favour of local income tax - it just means we have to employ more civil servants and costs us more. We already have a national income tax scheme - all that is needed is to take a higher percentage of tax off at source.

- energy - need to involve the OFT and prevent these companies profiteering at the customers expense. This is a cartel, not competitive industry.

- unions - the thicko lefties are striking left, right, and centre not realising that their precious Labour government is going to get emptied because of them. When the Tories get in power I suggest a return to Thatcherite policies to crush the unions. What happened at Grangemouth cannot be allowed to happen again because they can bring the whole country to a standstill. The ****ers are earning 40 grand+ and the change in pension laws would only have applied to new workers anyway.

- touting - Labour is clearly on the take with ticket touting agencies because they won't make it illegal. Fans cannot buy tickets for their bands because people are earning a good living buying up all the tickets and selling them on ebay within hours.

I take it the Conservatives are on the take as well, since they resisted demands to make ticket touting illegal on several occasions in the 1980s.

Ticket touting isn't illegal here either. Is it illegal anywhere?

Never seen a weaker looking inane PM. He is embarresing. Completely out of touch with reality. Nothing is our fault, it is all because of the US. Low inflation, low debt.

I just wonder if the guy actually is so delusional he believes all that. Either that or it is just bare faced lies.

Their so deluded that they think people are just going to buy 'we'll listen' yet have no solid solutions to the fact that the country is going down the drain.

Btw, for all the labour fans who complain about the demise of industry in Glasgow and the coal mines.....just how long did you think that these industries could continue given the fact that they were haemorageing money and with no prospect of being sustainable? The truth is that Maggie made hard decisions to help the long term viability of the coutry. I for one would not like my tax money to be spend on proping up unsustainable industry.

The bottom line is that people need sustainable careers for life, not just jobs.
