The first stage will be run for 13 rounds until the weekend of 5-6 November. Competitors will be drawn into 12 qualifying groups of either 14 or 15 players each. At the end of this stage, the following will qualify for the knockout stage: * The top four competitors (i.e. the players with the highest aggregate points scored) in each group (48 players in all) * The ten highest scoring players who do not finish in the top four in their group (10 players in all) * The six highest scoring SPL Predictor players of the week (based on the score they achieved in the week they got the award) who do not qualify as top four or highest scoring players (6 players in all) In the event that fewer than 6 competitors qualify as players of the week (i.e. because they have already qualified as high scorers or top four finishers), the extra qualification places will be added to the 10 available to the highest scoring players who finish outside the top four in their group. As it happens, 12 players won player of the week over the 13 rounds, and of those 12 six qualified as top four finishers. So the remaining six will qualify as the six highest scoring SPL Predictor players of the week (based on the score they achieved in the week they got the award) who do not qualify as top four or highest scoring players.
