Thought it was another great episode, quite a few new scenes which weren't in the book. The new scene between Tywin and Jaime was excellent.

However, one thing I didn't like (tin hat on here) was the brothel scene with Littlefinger. This scene wasn't in the book and was unnecessarily gratuitous and was more like a scene from a soft porn movie. The whole scene was unnecessary and while there have been other sex scenes in the series these have all also been in the book. Not sure what the writers were hoping to achieve with this. I've been watching the series with my fiancee so far but she was really put off by this.

Apart from this blip, one of the best drama series I have ever seen.

Watched the first episode and thought it was "the Emperors new clothes" but I'll give it another chance since my mate gave me up to Ep. 6 on a flash drive.

Not liking a scene with lesbian sex

Aside from breasts there was a point to the scene - I thought it set up the end of the episode quite well and gave an insight into the motivation of the character. I can't fight them but I can **** them, you always knew he was a shifty ******* but that scene really drive home the inner workings of his mind.

A friend is in it. And I've just found out she spends most of it with her tit hanging out. Not sure I want to see it now.

It was obviously put in to explain what was going on inside Littlefinger's mind for those unable to read between the lines. The author felt it unnecessary to break it down in the book, it's a shame HBO felt the need to produce a blatant explanation scene when the rest of the adaptation has been spot on.

What an epic show, i have not looked forward to watching a program this much in a long long time. Has to be the first time ever that my whole family sit in silence glued to the screen for the entire 60mins, roll on Mondays.

So, those that have read the book, What happens next??

Warning, spoilers for the rest of the series below:

Well, the Queen takes Ned prisoner and is told that if he admits to treason in front of everyone he will be allowed to join the Black Watch rather than be killed. However, when he admits treason the young King Joffrey sentences him to death and Ned is beheaded!

Meanwhile, Robb hears of this and gathers all of the armies of the North to fight the Lannisters. He uses cunning battle skills to trick the Lannisters and ends up taking Jaime prisoner and shutting off their army from their supply line.

Lord Renly (Robert's brother goes south and marrires into a noble house, declares himself rightful King and prepares to march North to Kings Landing.

At The Wall, Jon and the other Nights Watch are attacked by two of the dead soldiers who have become Ice Zombie/ Monsters.

Over the sea, Khal Drogo is killed in a battle and Daenerys uses black magic to open the three dragon eggs, creating three baby dragons. All of Khal Drogos men swear to serve her and help her claim the Iron Throne.

The second book so far is all about Joffrey, Stannis, Renly, Daenerys and Jon battling for the Iron Throne.

It was a little OTT it must be said but I'm not going to start complaining about it, that's tantamount to gayery (not sure if it's a word).

Totally agree with the rest of it though, certainly let you in to his mind and what his plans were.

The show just keeps getting better IMO.

Top drawer again, it's setting up for a pretty exciting finale. (am I right in thinking there's only 2 more episodes in this season?)

The impending threat of the white walkers is a bit more exciting than the war tbh.

Another brilliant episode tonight.

I'm guessing anyone on this thread should by default expect spoilers, but just in case:

I haven't read any of the books, but George Martin isnae shy about killing off characters! Viserys Targaryen, Ned Stark - who's next?

What an episode!

Can only imagine what it was like watching the ending and not knowing Ned was gonna get killed!

Only letdown for me was the lack of battle scenes. The battle of the 2000 decoys wasn't shown at all and neither was the Battle of Riverrun where they captured Jaime.

Brilliant stuff AGAIN! Sure we missed out on a couple of battle scenes, that wasn't ideal but IMO it took nothing away from the episode. That ending was superb, if slightly shocking. I'm glad I've not read the books and knew nothing of what was going to happen.

Last hope is that Jofrie gets destroyed in the finale next week

Yes that's the one.The special effects are going to be like nothing a tv series has ever seen before it's seriously big budget stuff..Never read the book but they(HBO) must have some faith in it if they are going to make six seasons of it with each season to contain 10-12 episodes.

Only $30-$40 million I read a season... Nothing compared to the likes of Band of Brothers ($140 million ish iirc), The Pacific (even more than Band of Brothers) or hell even Game of Thrones which cost them $50-$60 million for Season 1.

Coincidentally I also read that it was purely down to Game of Thrones success that they put the order in for it.

At the risk of sounding soft, the only thing that is ruining the series a bit for me is the amount of animal cruelty in it. It was really distressing to watch the horse bleeding to death after the witch stabbed it.

From what I heard the budget for putting the action scenes would have been too much. They prioritized the imp's confession of his first love instead, and I actually preferred it from his perspective getting knocked out and missing the whole thing like we did.

Tbh, with it being only a small portion of the group with the agenda of using it as a distraction to attain jamie lannister, I thought it was the smart move. I wouldn't worry I'd imagine that the other 18,000 troops aren't around just for show...
