Good signing imo, what people forget that it is a job for footballers and they are entitled to increase their wages by going elsewhere, unfortunatly JKB has far too many schoolkid posters who cant understand this. Many years ago Lou Macari transferred from Celtic to Man. Utd a BBC TV interviewer asked if he was going to Man Utd only for the money, Macari replied " If STV offered to double your money would you stay at BBC?" Enough said, money talks for everyone including you and I, except of course for silly schoolkid posters with plenty pocket money. :verymad:

Welcome back Andy. Next season our defence will be built around you because I reckon Bouzid wont get a new deal and Zal will move on to pastures new. Use the rest of the season to win back the fans by showing a desire and hunger to wear the maroon of Hearts.

A very positive signing, well done Hearts.

WELCOME BACK ANDY!

A brave move as you know some here will not forgive you (easily) for the past.

Show as much bravery as a defender as you have in returning and you will win them round (well, most of them)!

He will hopefully do what Paul Ritchie and Alan Johnstone couldn't do, leave Hearts under dubious circumstances, then build on your success with us. He's just had to come back to us, to build on his earlier success.

A full Scotland international, one of the best Scottish centre backs of his generation, has played in the English Premier League and has 3-5 good years ahead of him.

Quality player. Great signing.

I am more than happy to have a player as good as Andy Webster back at Hearts.

Welcome back Andy.

I dont give a dam what went before A Webster is a quality player and hopefully JJ will get the best out of him.

Also on another slant if we could choose between A Webster and David Weir from Rangers I know which player I would have taken

Vlad really has surprised me today.

In Ddee utd's team against us last season he stood out by a mile and cruised through the games, to be able to get him for nought..... RESULT !

I reallly really hate what he did to us. However if VR can take it , and JJ clearly wants it, then thos eof us who despise what he did should just keep it to themselves and get on with supporting the team

So welcome back (arghhh that hurt)

I wouldn't go as far as 'welcome back' but seeing as he's now an HMFC player again I suppose that now makes him OUR 'weasel' again ..... don't buy the idea that just because footballers are pros and their main loyalty is to themselves that fans should just put aside their opinions just because a player might or might not make the team better - that seems quite a shallow argument to me and one that would justify signing or 'welcoming' somebody like Deeks ..... so i suppose it's Hello Again Andy Webster. :)

Welcome back Andy. All that fuss and you never kicked a ball for Rangers LOL! Got their wonga in the bank and can now focus on getting back to the standard that you've only shown for Hearts and Scotland. Brilliant!

I'll only be satisfied if he has gone through a "Casino Royale" type session with Vlad.

I have now chosen to believe that he has, indeed, sat in the broken chair and had the treatment. He can, therefore, be grudgingly accepted.

But if he mucks it up....why I oughta....

Stupid Sexy Flanders

Can't be arsed reading this thread, but I imagine there's a total lack of spines and cojones from the "Oooh let's all allow people to treat us like shite then welcome them back with open arms" brigade.

I'm certainly not going to post on the "feck off Judas" thread and to be honest there is not a chance in hell that I feel like saying "welcome back" but...

What a potentialy great defence we now have.

A phrase I should try to work into as many conversations as I can today!!

It's easy to be negative. It's easy to keep a closed mind

This is the thread for the intellectually and emotionally advanced.

Hearts have acquired (for no fee) a very strong and capable centre back who will strengthen the playing squad and give the manager more options.

Is that a bad thing?

The question is "is he a bad thing" - or, as I suggested, can he be suitably reformed and become the prodigal son?

Vlad is very shrewd, he obviously sees the benefit in all of this and our manager (former player, captain and ever a fan) Jim Jefferies seems over the moon with his capture.

Vlad has an image of being a man who holds grudges and as someone who likes to put his own wont before the good of the club. The press have tried to perpetuate an image of the guy that is just not very accurate, they like to paint a picture where he is mental and looking to sabotage the team for his own personal gains, a small and petty egotist... look at the evidence that suggests otherwise though.

* Bringing in Jefferies.

* Allowing JJ to bring in Brown and Locke.

* Allowing JJ to bring in his own signings.

* Allowing Jim to take over the duties of the director of football role that others laboured under.

* Bringing back Skacel after a reported falling out.

* Bringing back Webster despite a VERY messy falling out which ultimately hit him hard in the pocket.

I just do not think the above points fit to the image that we had foisted on us by a xenephobic and Old Firm-centric media scrum.

I reckon Vladimirus knows what he is doing and he obviously sees the benefit in bringing the weasel back so... Well if Vlad can be the bigger person then so can I.

It is not a good idea to just paint over Jefferies' actions here either, Jim is a big Hearts fan himself and has held important roles in the employ of this club we all support. With Vlad being so forgiving, it is easy to just point to the financial sense of the whole affair and say, well "Romanov is a businessman and he smells money", fair enough i suppose, he is a banker let's not forget, however, Jim has put the benefit to the team and the strength of the squad at his disposal before any negative fans feelings that he may have had when the Weaselgate story first broke... That is the shrewdness of the sort of guy that I am happy to have as our manager, a man who puts the strength of the team before everything else and that afterall is what he gets paid for.

One thing is for certain here though... The Weasel will have to work at least twice as hard as every other member of the squad from here on in or he will be slaughtered.

Welcome back Andy. I'm sure if he's fit, he will be an asset to the first XI.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed the real positive here, but he's only signed a 2 1/2 year deal, which I think means he can't leave us under the 'Andy Webster Ruling'...... :whistling:

Bungalow Bill

Some people need to get a grip. He has never bad mouthed the club.

He didn't want to sign a new deal (fair enough) and he was told he wouldn't play again so he would spend 1.5 years sitting on the bench. I wonder what most people would do in that situation.

We have him back, he is a good player and has improved our squad. I have no problem with Webster.

good luck Andy...a scottish cup winner wi hearts..lets win some more...

Altho I dont like what he did like most...I believe that at the time only a nutter would have wanted to stay wi hearts due to the off field problems etc..and altho he could've left in a more possible route,,,I also pu tthe blame firmly at his agent's door...wot was he trying to do ...make his client famous...or maybe even himself?

so welcome back big man

Did I miss something????? Could have sworn Pressley and Tall were the centre backs with Berra on the bench when we won the cup.
