portobellojambo1
Andy finally won the match 4 & 3. As Andy said i have no idea what both overall scores were but we both must have been under par (although I may have drifted back to about par(ish) with a horror show at the 15th. Well played Andy. Time to test out Oakmont now I suppose for the next tournament.

Dave Spacey
Just playing my first round at Oakmont, wondered what all the fuss was about. 1st hole Good drive - check Shot to green - A little too much power, ok though 38 foot putt - to 2 foot, happy with that. 2 foot putt - Is now 1.5 foot past the hole 1.5 foot putt - now 1.3 foot the other side of the hole again and the 1.3 foot putt. Goes in the hole

You played well in the end mate, I started off on fire and then fizzled out to a damp squib, whereas you got stronger as the round went on and sunk some cracking putts (somehow!) Those greens are incredible though and there wont be many (if any) under par rounds, eek!

How about 5 games, with 1 player (player x) not playing at this stage. 5 winners go through to the 1/4 finals. 3 addition qualifying games can now be played. The previous 5 Losers + Player x. 3 winners go through and join the initial 5 winners to the 1/4 finals. (5+3) I think that would work. Good call, have been thinking about something like that. Which system would be better - 3 points for a win, and maybe 1 point for losers if the game goes into extra holes? Or winners picking up points based on the number of holes they win by - f.e. winning 6 and 5, the winner would pick up 6 points?

Six ties will be randomly drawn, with the six winning players reaching the quarterfinals. One player will receive an automatic bye into the quarterfinal. Two top-scoring loser amongst the six played ties will gain the remaining quarterfinal place - i.e. someone who lost their tie only 1 down will take precedence over a player who lost 2 and 1. Should there be two players in the same position, they'll be asked to play off against each other for the remaining quarterfinal spot. Should there be three (or more) players in the same position, I'll - erm... have to think about it. Draw coming up shortly.....
