ST ANDREWS KNOCKOUT MATCHPLAY COMPETITION. RULES Only sixteen places are available. I had planned for this to be a Handicap competition, but it's not going to work with Match Play (based on holes won/lost, not strokes), and would be way to complex to figure out 'manually'. So, it'll have to be a straightforward handicap-free slug-out. My apologies. If anyone wants to withdraw from the competition as a result feel free to do so - and sorry again. The registered players will be placed into a random draw to determine who faces who in the opening eight matches. Following this round the eight winning players will then be randomly assigned their opponents for the 'quarter-finals', and so on (obviously, the Final won't involve random selection). All rounds are to be played on St Andrews. Competitors will have on average 4 DAYS from the announcement of their tie to play a single RANKED MATCH PLAY round against their opponent, with BOTH PLAYERS agreeing the outcome on this thread. The round MUST be a ranked round so that WGT, not a competitor, determines the course conditions. It's up to competitors facing each other to get in touch via whatever means to arrange a start time convenient for both players to play their round. Competitors MUST have a game connection speed that allows a two-person round to be played in less than three hours. If competitors fail to register their round within the allowed time, the result of the tie will be determined by coin toss. Withdrawing from a round, failing to complete it, logging off etc... gifts your opponent the win. So have a stable connection! All sorts of things that could potentially go wrong here, but let's hope none of them do.... The random draw will follow shortly. One lucky player will receive a 'bye' into the next stage...... SETTING UP A MATCH PLAY ROUND ON WGT When you?re tied to play another player in the competition, contact them (JKB PM, whatever else) and arrange a mutually convenient time to play your round. Then, at that convenient time you both log into WGT, and whoever?s name appears first in the competition tie, needs to do the following..... From your member home page, select PLAY NOW The pop out screen then offers the option of the type of game you want to play. Select MATCH PLAY This brings up a new screen - From Game Mode on the RHS of the screen, select SCORED Course - select ST ANDREWS Holes - select FULL 18 Because ?SCORED? has been selected, the area that allows you to change course conditions should be inaccessible - WGT will determine conditions automatically/randomly. Then, further down the RHS, click on INVITE PLAYERS Don?t change Player Rank or Reputation, and leave the Shot Timer at 90 seconds. Click on CREATE GAME This brings up a new screen. In the Add A Player section....... either - select ?Friend? if the player you?re playing is already on your friend list, and when you see their name, click on it to invite them or - select ?Manual?, which brings up a text box into which you type the WGT name of the player you?re tied against. If they?re online (as you?ve presumably prearranged at time that?s convenient for you both), they?ll receive an invitation to play. All the other player has to do is Accept the invitation, and you?re off and running....... Good luck everyone!!! One guy I played hit the flagstick, earning 25,000 points. No catching up with him after that. Also played my first 'Legend' player - no short further than 3ft from the pin. Sigh.
