When Arizona state were trying to attract people to move to their new planned city in the desert, they decided to buy a world landmark and site it there. The story goes that they eventually decided that Tower Bridge in London was iconic enough, but mistakenly kept calling it London Bridge during negotiations - and thats what they got !!! Bleak is an appropriate description. Original was in the Norman style. It has changed hands a few times, but that area was never particularly loyal to either crown (Edinburgh or London).
