I've always had a room in the 'new' wing as opposed to one of the older ones, so nice and up to date. Decent shower and scran, so can't complain. Usually full of tour bus folk though, which is why I'll be in the St Ola in a few weeks. Bit more old school, but I like it.

Helgi's good too with decent local beers, but a bit small. Last time I was up, I tried the Old Library - great place for an explore. It's a music shop & venue, toy store, cafe/bar/restaurant and really does have a bit of everything. Decent beers too

Skippers is ok, but don't/didn't have Scapa Special on draft. I've not been to the Old Library yet, but will check it out next time. The Storehouse just opened last year and the room was very nice, there's also a large busy restaurant, but not much of a bar. It's marketed as a restaurant with rooms rather than a 'hotel'. The Italian restaurant Lucano on Victoria Street is pretty decent as well. As is the Indian, Dil Se, on Bridge Street. ?
