Not Morocco, although closer than  the Egypt guess.

one poster was quite close. Happy to narrow it down if anyone wants to guess countries etc. It is obscure for most British tourists. I haven’t spoken to anyone who has been there......,

Algeria is the only country I can think would fit your description?

Not Algeria, or Northern African country. Don’t want to mislead with my description.

There is no reason Brits shouldn’t go there and I did hear a few during the 8 days spent there but it’s not been picked up by the normal tourist crowd. It has remained very unspoilt. Main income is from tourism and fishing

What was it like staying there? From the photos, it looks utterly dull to be honest. ;)

Depends what you are looking for. I got it straight away but my wife took more convincing. It’s very rustic with no paved streets, only a few licensed 4by4s and around 600 residents on the island.

There are about 8 restaurants and a couple of bars. It gets busy by their standards during the day with ferry loads of mainly Spanish day trippers but by 6pm it’s quiet and I mean quiet, no noise, again.

beautiful beaches, cheap prices and away from it all.

Reminded me of Greece in the early 80’s with the locals saying hello to you in the streets.

Perhaps your wife was more annoyed that you partially edited her out of any photos you took of her.

Sounds nice, TFR.

I might not have much of a chance to update this tomorrow, going through to Glasgow for the day...

So I'll get back to it sometime on Sunday, maybe... ?

We know it's north of Aviemore and the closest guess so far is Lairg.

As a further clue, the snowflake/cold symbol is very apt for this place.

By the way, do you think that's a logo on the bin in the photo?
