I P Knightley
A shop I was in at lunchtime was playing an album of Led Zep covers. The drongo serving me didn't even know if it was a CD or the radio so I am not able to share with you the name of this album. All I can say is that if you're ever tempted to buy and album featuring covers of Led Zep songs, just send me the money and I'll send you a recording of me farting into a can. Honestly, you'd get more pleasure from the latter. The Monkees doing of I'm a Believer is miles better than Neil Diamond but the version at the end of Shrek improved upon both. Short of inspiration, I googled this top 50 and, although they have Jeff Buckley and Kate Bush (covering Elton John - see, I told you so) near the top; I'm horrified to see Scissor Sistors' Comfortably Numb in at #9. Sacriledge!

slfjambo
ARTISTS THAT SLF HAVE COVERED "Johnny Was" -- written and originally performed by Bob Marley. "Roots, Radicals, Rockers and Reggae" -- adapted from a Bunny Wailer song. "Love of the Common People" -- performed by Nicky Thomas. In the mid-eighties, Paul Young worked on a musical project with Jake Burns and was inspired to cover this song, and had a huge hit with it. ecjambo
When I went to see Stereophonics a few years ago they were brilliant. Their newer stuff isnt as good as their first two albums which is fair enough but they have had some brilliant songs. A Thousand Trees, More life in a tramp's vest, Traffic, the bartender and the thief, Just looking, the list goes on, are all good songs. And Dakota was one of the most downloaded tracks of 2005(?) i think.

I still haven't changed my opinion and just coz he is a hiibbie doesn't mean the music is automatically rubbish. It is now your turn to go and have a long hard think re catholic (note small C) tastes in music rather than insularity(politest version of what I really want to say i can think of) back to the theme for last night Standing around crying by rogers/gilmour fits the bill

kiltedjedi
That was hilarious mate. Seriously funny stuff. What was, the video was craptacular but I thought we were talking about the songs, and the song was a fantastically done cover. You may not like JP but you cannot deny that they made a version of that song that was truly their own, and for people such as myself who like their music, it was a great cover version.
