sirwalter
Sorry, but are you seriously trying to relate comments on this stupid forum with Hitler? Yes.."the price of freedom is eternal vigilance". Are you saying that facists of the 1980s had nothing in common with their counterparts in the twenties? They were conspicuously less successful but might that not be because we were able to recall what had happened before? "Those who ignore history are fated to relive it." KB hasn't always been a stupid forum and I live in (admittedly diminishing) hope that it can return to its more elevated past.

Dirk Diggler
What absolute bollocks. All things being equal, at the start of every season, I'd hope Hearts finish top, If that wasn't to be, I'd hope anyone but Hibs would finish top. Considering we have entered every season in twenty odd years being pretty much guaranteed it'll end up a two horse race, I'd prefer Rangers win the league before Sellic, therefore, unless an advantage is to be gained by Hearts from a Sellic victory, I'd rather Rangers won every single old firm game. Dirk Diggler
You're not a bigot (necessarily). It really depends what the reasons are for your preference. I've been spat on twice on recent visits to Parkhead. For many seasons now, I've seen imaginary rifles pointed at Hearts fans. As an 8 year old I ended up in the first aid room because the stewards at Parkhead failed to do their jobs. At Tynecastle when Hibs were in the first division I witnessed Hibs Scarves in the Celtic end, I've heard endless H-I-B-E-R-N-I-A-N chants from their support, Frank McGarvey, 1986, etc etc. I hope they die. So, if Hearts were in a position whereby we need Rangers to lose a match to qualify for Europe and they were playing Celtic, you'd still cheer Rangers on just because it's Celtic then yes? You really should stop coming on here pretending to be a Jambo and spouting your bile! For the record, Celtic and Rangers are hated with equal venom amongst most Hearts fans except the ones that can't move on from the 70's & 80's like yourself. Why don't you just come on and admit your actually a bluenose disguised as a Jambo? shaun.lawson
Every individual will have their own reasons for either hating Celtic more, Rangers more, both equally, or just not giving a toss. However, bearing that in mind, and that this is only a personal view based on instinct and perception rather than anything scientific, I do think that when push comes to shove, the majority of Jambos prefer Rangers. Not an overwhelming majority, and not by the margin that might have applied, say, 20 years ago - but a majority nonetheless. Why? Firstly, if religion has anything to do with it at all, it probably applies to only a mere fraction of our support, as opposed to huge swathes of Old Firm supporters. However, if you look throughout the world, you invariably find that the west of a city is more affluent than the east: purely and simply, because of wind direction. This rule doesn't apply in every single case, but certainly in most. And while plenty of wealthier people are left wing politically, and plenty of poorer people right wing, on the whole, affluent people tend to be more conservative in their outlook; and poorer people, more socialist. Given all this, it stands to reason that Jambos, on the whole, are slightly more affluent than Hibees, and slightly more conservative: making them in turn more likely to sympathise with Rangers than Celtic, whose supports reflect a considerably starker dichotomy (though again, not to the extent that they once did). All of which feeds into a self-fulfilling prophecy: Celtic fans regard us as diet Huns, so hate us, and give us a much harder time at Parkhead than Rangers fans, who view us as their harmless little brother, do at Ibrox. As a result, given our views are formed by experience, it's far more likely that Hearts fans will feel hostile towards Celtic than Rangers. I do think this is gradually changing, and that younger Jambos increasingly perceive Rangers with greater disdain, mainly because of the changing political times we're living in. So it could well be that, 20 or 30 years from now, there's no difference at all in how they're viewed, or even that Rangers are more hated than Celtic. But for now, the reverse remains true. As I said at the start, this is only my perception, and everyone will have their own individual stance on this: and in any case, much of the furore of this debate has been caused by Therapist just being on the windup again. Because he knows, and we all know, that what he said about no proper Jambo wanting Celtic to win an Old Firm derby is pure, unadulterated tosh. Charlie-Brown
Usually I want whichever Old Firm team is doing the worst at that present time to continue getting worse - at various points this has been both Rangers & Celtic at different times. I have no preference - I dislike them equally although I've had more bother of Rangers fans probably cos our results against them at tynie and a few times at Ibrox were generally better than we achieved against Celtic - the Huns are bad losers.
