We should be giving the guy support rather than pelters.

He’s still a hearts player and although the fans have already been patient with him he needs support from us more now than ever.

Surprised there isn't already a thread about him TBH.

Posted

He's miles off form and really lacking confidence so us turning on him is definitely not the solution.

Totally agree with the OP.

Posted

Frustration boiling over. He’s running his contact down and not performing.

Fans seeing a player that thinks he’s better than us delivering Connor Sammon level performances.

No wonder folk are losing it tbh.

Normally would agree. But I don't this time. Every case is different. He's wholly unprofessional and we pay him £7k per week to ruin our season.
He's already cost us 3x his salary this season. What more do we want?

If his confidence is that shot that he cant hit the target from 12 yards then its time for a rest.

If he plays on sunday then hopefully will score , he needs a very big boost, still cant get over

the change in him.

Doesn't want to be here so hopefully he get his dream move to Ibrox in January and we get in a striker that remembers how to score goals.

Could be a tough afternoon for him if things don’t go well. Getting it from both sides.

Would bench him. Not sure if NC will though.

Tough times come with the not insignificant pay awards.   If you end up a poor wee petal from a bit of stick then you were never captain material.

Like the support Vargas was given when he decided he wanted to leave?

I agree with this.

I do agree but I'm also just resigned to the fact that this is all we'll get from him til he goes in the summer. Those 2 seasons were magical & it's a shame that it's ending on such a bum note when he should really be leaving as a hero. We put all our eggs in one basket which was a silly thing to do & it's bit us on the arse.

Honestly it's so obvious with hindsight but it would have been better for everyone if someone, anyone, had just tested our resolve with a concrete bid, least then we'd have known where everyone stands.

I don't think he should start on Sunday Harry, however, I think he will.

I hope we get a penalty and that Shanks buries it.

Take your point but it's not quite the same. Vargas isn't good enough for our league yet spoke like he was BETTER than this level.

I personally am very old-skool. Wantaway players who don't play well professionally should train with the kids.

In my lifetime I can’t recall any player that has had such a drop in performance from one season to the next, yes players have hit a bad patch but never as long and to this extent. Can anyone else remember any?

Nope

If he scores a hat trick against Hibs all these kids on here will be singing his name

All the players get rotated and given a break.

He never seems to get one.

He just needs a goal but his head has already left the club how can he retain the captaincy when results are so poor?

I think the child-like and naive ones are those who think a low-confidence, wantaway, unprofessional joke of a "captain" who can't even respect the average Joes who travel to Europe to pay his fat wages and applaud them like the rest of the team will suddenly and randomly start to be amazing again.

Just my opinion. you guys love to label and call names here eh? Would you do that in person? Don't answer that we all know you are keyboard hard men.

Dunno, I reckon booing him,  giving him abuse on social media and telling him to gtf is exactly what he needs.

Mgt and support 101- when a person needs support,  bully and abuse them.

Supporting folks through bad times and being rational will never catch on.

Rage, froth and more rage is what is required.

Gimping on every failure at this club is exactly what's required. You're so clever.

May be time to restore the armband to Craig Gordon.

Taking that weight off his shoulder (well, arm) may be some sort of easement for him.

The 98 team had a drop off.

We beat rangers 2-1 on the opening day then were rank rotten.

By performance you mean goals?

His performances are generally on par with last season, the goals are missing and unfortunately no one else can chip in regularly to help compensate.

Folk are laying the lack of goals and Hearts being  poor at Shanklands door and also confusing the 2.

Takes a bit critical thinking to separate the 2 and look objectively at both.

Yes that's what I was alluding to. I'd never play any player who wants away and plays as badly as he's done. Hoping against hope he turns it around is not only naive to the extreme it sends a VERY bad message to the rest of the team, especially those working their socks off in the attacking areas. You don't breed a winning mentality by accepting mediocrity and consistently under-par performance.

He thinks he’s bigger and better than our club. And is leading a team that are in a relegation fight. He deserves all the stick that comes his way in my opinion - the issue being, that won’t help and you’re left with even more of a spiral…

Hard to see a positive outcome right now. Such a shame as could have been a real legend.

Edit: I’m not backing those who sang the song last night btw. I can just understand the anger and frustration.

It’s well proven now we can’t win games with him, maybe it’s time to see if we can win games without him.

He will score 2 on Sunday and the Dons who we should have seen off up at Pitoddrie I predict

3-0:

Was waiting until January and if he announces a pre-contract, well within rights to give dog abuse with his performances.  Screaming at him is not going to make him try harder.  Needs support.

His weight would go through the roof, its only playing 90 minutes a week that’s keeping him relatively fit.

Two photos, two white strips, one with a proper sports science department and here. Look at the difference in his face, he’s almost unrecognisable.

Absolutely. He's not going to change & MGMT should see it. Trouble is, the Boards lack of football business acumen has led us up a dead-end lane with no adequate striking alternatives - that's not on Critchley. And LS as "a pro" should've handled this way, way better - & Captain material he is not. Got to come up with an alternative - board should fund a short-term free agent if only to save face.

Hes had support all season, he needs dropped, thats the only thing left to try and motivate him. Seven months on the bench would be almost impossible for his fitness to recover from.

Professional footballers understand the need to perform and deliver, and when you have had support and opportunity to play through bad spells without any real success, they also understand that the next step is the bench. Some of the support don’t understand this which is troubling..
