Not sure how you can’t be a fan considering he was on the park a matter of minutes and did more than that fat passenger up front, who is still somehow swanning about in the captains armband. Kenny and Beni won us that game. You can’t sit and type “I’m not a fan” of a player who scored the winner ffs

I think the reason for the debate is, he frustrates like a winger! Even playing through the middle, he has touches of absolute class, but then misses / messes  some gild edge chances. Maybe the fact he frustrates like a winger, makes us feel like he’s a winger! But he needs to be up front / centre for me. He’s a 1 in 4 type of guy, but he’s also a guy that’ll create 4 chances with his attributes! Start him instead of shanks is my stance!

”stunned” that a player who has more goals is being lauded as better than Shankland this season. Ray Charles could see that Vargas, despite his obvious flaws at being 22 years old, is better than shanks this season.  Shankland is bringing the entire team down a notch by being on the pitch. He has been woeful this season. Absolutely woeful. So far off it, slow, laboured. To name a few things. 
 

edit: I’d also love to hear what Shankland has added to his game this season.

Yes it was very unlucky as keeper rushed him. Still had more goals than Shankland and at this rate I don’t care what the fat one brings. It’s about goals and Vargas has more so far

Overall Vargas needs to do better in a Hearts jersey but hopefully this goal gives him a bit of confidence especially a winning goal 🤷🏻‍♂️🇱🇻 time will tell…

He has scored 3 goals in his last 6 appearances for club and country. He can be frustrating and would like to see Critchley work on him a bit, but I think he is getting his confidence back.

Discussing Shankland v Vargas ability wise might be missing the point.
 

As long as we’re winning, I’d probably prefer Vargas to be the one scoring, given that he is 22 and on a long term deal. The other way around and we’d just be punting Shankland for buttons in Jan to prevent a pre contract to Rangers.

Vargas has pace. Shanks doesn't.

Vargas is young, people forget this, and will hopefully keep improving.

Shanks is out of form, very badly, but I hope he rediscover his last season self. But forgetting his last season and the him being captain...he would be dropped if we had a proven other striker.

  In the second half there was a decent long ball in behind that Vargas was onto in a flash !

  Shanks would have been nowhere near it !

 Gives us more options in attack !

Shankland wanted away who would want him in his current form.

Also Vargas is playing at a far higher level international and professional than Shankland ever did at 22.
