I dont think that's the reason, they have had private fuctions on during Friday night games in the past. The request came from Celtic.

In that case it will be because Celtic U19s were playing in the Youth Champions league yesterday (they lost 2-1 to Atalanta).

That was my thinking.

Do you need a pro license for managing in Scotlands 5th tier? I thought it was just the A license

That's what I was told and no reason to doubt the source. He has skin in the game.

Are this team any good do we know?

Would agree with that. Our country in general is dugshite at transitioning good talents at 16 and turning them into anticlimactic shite by the time they're 21 so a good coach to finally bridge this would be nice.

The B team role is an important one for the club, hence why I would have liked Fox to go back to it.

The team is in a bit of transition at the moment so Beith/Wallace will likely continue until a suitable replacement for Fox is identified.  I wonder if Critchley will have any input, he must have a lot of contacts in youth football down south.

Nor me. Terrible time for a game.

I plan to be there and also the U15s game at the Oriam at 6pm.

I don't understand why the fixture just wasn't cancelled until a suitable evening could be arranged.

No Tait. Suggests he’s in the squad tomorrow.

Interesting to see Lyon start ahead of Jamie Mac on bench. Obviously not much of a crowd but a decent autumn day and gets us old farts out of the house.

0-1

Brilliant diagonal pass out wide. Easy cross and finish.

0-1 :rolleyes4:  Defending was a touch vacant.

Rathie down injured in the box.

Any signs on what the injury is?

Not good news given his injury issues 🙈

Celtic have had the better chances. Hearts playing okay with good passing but not created any good chances.

Losing Rathie clearly a blow but has given Smutek the chance to link up with Nair in central defence which is the combo I expected at the start of the season.

Good save from close range effort by Stevenson.

Followed by the equaliser by Stevenson.

1-1.

Been end to end. Tap in after a bit of hesitation in defence.

Another great chance for Sandilands messed up after great work by Crookston.

Celtic nearly score on counter.

Not a bad game and a decent performance from Hearts B despite the result. Sandilands had the chance to equalise near the end after great build up play but failed to make a proper connection.

Not sure what happened at Celtic’s second goal. The Hearts players seemed to be looking bemused and giving the linesman a hard stare (but not claiming offside).

I thought they played well too.  Ryan Duncan was probably their best player, but Gregor Crookston had a good game at right back, a role that is not familiar to him, but he has had to fill following Adam Forrester's promotion to the first team squad.

After missing what was a sitter, Gus Stevenson took his goal superbly, with an exquisite first touch to control a pass fared into him at the edge of the box, then with his second drilling the ball low past the keeper.

Callum Sandilands doesn't look fully fit to me. He tired quite badly in the closing stages and that possibly contributed to him missing his late chance.

I feel sorry for Luke Rathie given his recent injury problems. Today's one looked nasty as he seems to twist himself after making a clearance.  The reaction of the players immediately asking the ref to stop the game spoke volumes.

Without a win for over 2 months, tough times.

It’s not a case of the heads going down. Playing with quite a lot of confidence and mostly passing the ball well. Obviously have lost a couple of players to the first team but in some ways that should be an encouragement.

Yeah, there has been a lot of change that has happened in that two months. Their coach has gone to the first team, their best striker has been promoted, their captain and best right back has moved up to the first team.  There has been lots of injuries. So does not surprise me they are not doing as well as last season. I do think this season is a transition season for the B team.

Callum’s not long back though is he? Add in the increased demands of training with the first team, maybe a knock on effect?

Absolutely agree with that.  We need to be careful with the next B team head coach appointment.

It’s his second 90 mins after a major knee op.   Think we need to give the lad a chance to just get minutes in the tank.

Hope Rathie is okay as that looked really bad one as he went down with no one near him and appeared to be his knee.  Fingers crossed not as bad as I fear as he had no luck recently with injuries

Scotland U17s lost 3-1 to Northern Ireland in their first UEFA Championship qualifying group game.

Alfie Osborne and Euan Glasgow both started.

I thought Ryan Duncan was clearly the best player on the park. His first touch is superb and the ball seemed to stick to him gliding past players.  Some of the passing by the team was excellent but the pitch looked a bit sticky and poor Rathie must have caught his foot after clearing the ball.

We started the second half well and deserved the equaliser but Celtic were always dangerous - their players looked bigger and older than most of ours.

The Celtic winner must have been contentious as the assistant ref stood still before the ref told him to go upfield. I don't know if it was offside but our captain was given some sort of explanation by the ref before the game restarted. Only two dives for Celtic today looking for penalties, much better than normal, and no officials fooled either 😁.

I know results right now aren't great for B Team, but the "academy has never produced anything" argument is losing some serious steam.

James Wilson is our first striker off the bench. Adam Forrester is a competent rotation option at right back. Macaulay Tait is hanging around the first team picture.  Denholm is currently getting regular appearance at Ross County. Finlay Pollock is starting in the Championship.  A year or two from now, should Hearts find themselves again in European league play, Hearts could have themselves a squad where B team graduates are racking up appearances.

I like the fact the B Team due to positive departures now has some U18s playing. That's ideal. Have to think that opens up spots down the chain for players to be playing a bit up.

Agree with posts above they need another coach in the system, either to take on leading the B Team or U-18. I have no insight on the abilities of Beith or McNeil, but I do know they're a body short. I imagine that is fixed in coming weeks.

We appear to be coming into a good cycle yep.

Tait, Pollock, Denholm, Forrester and now Wilson.

Fingers crossed this continues, would love to see Sandilands getting a run this season if he gets himself fit again. A seriously impressive goalscoring midfielder when he’s on his game.
