How did our former striker fare?

Come on as a sub late in the first half.  Played up front initially, but got nothing out of Euan Glasgow.  Saw more of the ball after he moved out to wide right. He got into some good positions, but couldn't create any chances, which was the case for both teams.

Callen Robb managed to miss an open goal from 6 yards out after taking the ball past the keeper, but poked the ball outside the post with his weaker right foot.

Delighted to hear Glasgow kept him quiet. Not so good about the open goal opportunity.

B team could be fairly weak tomorrow away to league leaders Caledonian Braves.

As well as not seeing anyone back off the injury list until end of this month at the earliest, captain Adam Forrester won't be there and probably not Tait either.

I assume that Wilson will be available having travelled to Azerbaijan. I saw Callum Sandilands training with the U18s last weekend, so he may not be far away from a return.

The charter lands in Aberdeen later this evening, so I guess Wilson and Tait could be driven down for tomorrows game (or train), although with Tait coming off the bench last night he is probably in the frame for a bench place on Sunday.

Looks like they are due in around 5:30, so plenty time to get home if they are going to play tomorrow.

Ah getting my time differences mixed up, that's not so bad then.

Sandilands & Rathie both in squad for tomorrow. Probably on limited minutes and Nair probably only a week a way I’ve been told.

Scotland U15s completed an unbeaten mini tournament in Serbia with a 4-2 win over the hosts today.  Keir McMeekin and Peter Kellock both came on as subs.

They should also get stronger when the Hearts players, out through injury, are available for selection.

2-0 Edusport at HT.

They are just physically stronger and faster restricting Hearts to a few half chances.

Rathie off half time. Sandilands on 58 minutes and might have scored.

3-1 currently.

Finished 3-2. Wilson with Hearts 2nd.

FT 3-2 to Edusport. Much improved performance in 2nd half but left themselves too much to do going 3 down.

Poor first half display cost us, understandably Rathie looks pretty short of match fitness and it probably cost us as his understanding with Smutek was pretty rusty.  That said, Braves have two strong and clever forwards, but hardly pacey.

We didn't really start playing until Sandilands came off the bench and injected a bit of dynamism into our play, scored 2 mins after coming on.  Wilson got a second back late on and if the game had lasted another 5 minutes we could have snatched an unlikely equaliser.  Gillies sent off for a second yellow late on as well.

Hopefully we kick-on with players coming back off the injury list.

At the game today and thought it was more than surprising to see Wilson play today, never mind 90mins. Arrives in Aberdeen after 6hr flight, would not have got home until midnight. That said he was outstanding. Got stuck in, battled and put himself about. Thought he put the midfielders to shame at times by running back to take passes off defenders. I couldn’t tell whether his goal was a second keeper own goal or a worldie from an acute angle.

Brilliant to see Sandilands and Rathie back. Callum brings energy and quality to the team, although you could see he is not match fit. Rathie just makes Hearts B look better when he plays.

I thought Osborne was good second half when he came on. Best I’ve seen him play, although their strikers lacked pace which played into his hands. Much more a central defender now at 6ft 4 than a midfielder and looked really composed.

Braves recruited well from last season. No playing out from the back but they are able to pop it around in midfield when required. As said before, just stronger and more clever.

Very noticeable how they claimed for everything throughout 90mins. On the flip side, amazing how quiet Hearts players are in same situations.

Anyone heading to watch Victory Shield on Tuesday. I’m told Wales has pulled out so not quite sure what this means to timings. Wonder if Wales football suffering in the same way as Wales rugby - has anyone heard anything?

Watched the game. Agreed, Wilson easily best Hearts player. Superb throughout and deserved goal at the end. Even watching it on replay, still not sure how it goes in. I thought he, Rathie and Gillies were prepared to get stuck in and accept the physical challenge, although Gillies did get sent off in the end. Macdonald is totally at fault for the second goal when their was a simple pop pass to Ryan Duncan.

Osborne looks a player alright, but will be disappointed with their third.

Loved seeing Rathie and Sandilands back on the grass/Astro.

Thought it interesting Plank not used. Was named on bench but others like Muirhead came on as impact players. I had initially been impressed by him but seems to have fallen out of favor.

Hearts Hibs derby at the weekend just there. The under 13’s won 4-2 on the Saturday but the under 12’s got a bit of a going over losing 3 out of the 4 games.

Unsure how the under 14’s and 15’s got on.

Their bust. The International Team success just about keeping afloat the professional clubs. Anyway, enough chat about rubgy.

Apparently the first post some weeks ago from SFA had ROI down twice, which is likely where the story started. I did think it was odd as Welsh football been on the up over last 10yrs.

I watched the U11s on Saturday. Hearts won 2, drew 1 and lost 1 of the 4 games.

The U15s lost 3-0, but fielded 6 x 2011s due to injuries and Scotland call ups.

On Sunday I watched the U14s lose 3-2. Again they were without most of the 2011s who played up the previous day. They also lost their captain to injury after a bad foul early in the game.

I went along to Broadwood today for the U16 game.  A good proportion of the spectators were scouts and coaches (including from Hearts).

I thought that it was a fair result. Both sides had spells when they looked the stronger. I feared the worst when Scotland went behind but they did well to respond so quickly.

Both Hearts lads did ok when they came on as subs, with a first cap for Connor Dow. One of the other subs was Gordon Forrest's son who plays for Dundee Utd. Alfie Hutchison had a few nice touches, but he struggled to get into the game for the most part.

I'm sure that both Stanley and Connor will get more game time in the next two games.

Second game Wales v N.Ireland

Wales 3-3 Northern Ireland. Wales won 3-1 on pens for a bonus point.

Stanley Wilson played the full game for Scotland U16s in their 0-1 defeat by Northern Ireland today. Connor Dow was one of three players who didn't even make the bench (I assume through injury).

Scotland performed poorly throughout with too many misplaced passes. There was little between the sides and Scotland did create enough chances to win the game.  There was too much in-play coaching from the side lines for my liking, with players unsure of what they were meant to be doing at times.

Stanley was given an unfamiliar role on the right of the midfield 3 in a 4-3-3 setup.  He was asked to press high alongside the central striker when their keeper had the ball. He also took throw-ins in attacking situations but was assigned as one of the two defenders who stayed back at corners or attacking free kicks.

Celtic B team game moved from Friday night to Tuesday lunch time. 🙄 🙄

Spartans must have a booking why it's not the Evening

Thought NI just looked hungrier for the win. They played a perfect game for them, took the lead and looked very comfortable seeing the game out. Thought Goodbrand and Hutchison both looked very poor and expected more. Goodbrand sold a pup by Coran Madden for the only goal of the game. As noted above, couldn't believe where Stanley Wilson has asked to play. Looked much better late in the second half playing in his more familiar No 6 role.

So that leaves it

This sounds like an explanation why Wilson was not in the squad yesterday. He and Alfie Osborne were training with the Scottish Senior team, to provide numbers for the squad in training.

I believe we can put that down to our new sporting director's SFA connections.

Great to see Rocco Friel get some first team minutes in a behind closed door game for QPR. Always thought he had high potential, but maybe  not the most consistent.

Good Youth Cup win on penalties for the U18s over Dundee United tonight, although they made hard work of it.

Conceded a goal early in each half to go 0-2 down, but hit back with two peaches of strikes by Josh Radcliffe and James Wilson, before conceding a 3rd. However pressure paid off when Hearts were awarded a penalty, which James Wilson converted.  Taylor Hogarth was shown a straight red late on, when he thought he was taking one for the team as he stopped a United break.

Hearts converted all 4 of their penalties while United put their last two over the bar.

Hearts could probably be a good bet, as long as they field their strongest side which they did tonight. Both Celtic and Rangers are already out.

They are are all to smartly coiffured and kitted out to be certain of all of them, so I may have a couple the wrong way round, but I'd go with:

Mulholland, Kelly, Robb, Radcliffe, Plesiewicz, Banks

Selfridge, Osborne, Wilkie, Tas, Lyon, McGoldrick

Sanders, Burn, Glasgow, Muirhead, Hogarth.

Feel free to correct me if someone knows the individuals better.  I tend to rely on their squad numbers.

Why isn’t Tas starting tonight? B team and 18s, he seemed the more confident keeper. Surprised he’s not getting game time
