I'm not panicking over Halkett, he's had a bad injury, been out a long time and had a few niggles as he returns.

However I do think we should have pretty no much expectations this season. If he can make a few appearances, stay fit and get a full pre season it'll benefit him no end.

Halkett's injury isn't a hamstring tweak or calf strain though, it's the same knee he had surgically repaired.

That isn't a niggle...it's a concern if he can't train due to discomfort and needs further specialist advice then potentially more treatment off the back of that. Naismith's words weren't very reassuring.

I'm very concerned in truth and I feel very sorry for him.

We should probably get rid of any player that gets a less than minor injury on the increased chance that they get injured again.

Agreed , although I would go further than that . Any player who looks a bit soft or fragile based on their facial features , or their gait when they walk should also be chased . Beni is too hunched , Hoff has a soft face , Atkinson is a bit skinny and his wrists look a little limp ………….. the sooner we get rid of anyone with Australian DNA the better as well

Evening News reporting that Barrie McKay is getting a run out in a closed doors game v Dundee this weekend  - brilliant news 🤩

Hope he comes through unscathed 🤞

Will be great to see him back 👍

Whilst is agree the last couple seasons has been worrying to say he only played 4 games in the second half of 21/22 is incorrect.

Man some people are so pedantic.  Halkett played 4 games and 15 mins in the second half (Jan onwards) of the 21/22 season.

Happy now Karipidis?

Struggle with this to be honest.

Before the “bad injury” he played 19 games from Jan to Dec 2022 with an ankle injury and two ham string injuries.

You say you are not panicking, we should write him off this season but then not write him off if he gets fit. Well he hasn’t been for two and a half seasons, so surely we proceed on the full assumption he will not be available and have to adjust the squad accordingly.

Naimsith said the initial scan was good and explained it as a niggle.  He said the issue has been getting the specialist as they want to make sure there's nothing hiding before giving the go ahead for full training and he's been doing light training so it's not like he's completely ****ed.

Maybe I should be more sceptical of Naismith but I'll take it at face value. He's had 2 bad injuries back to back. It's shite. But neither are the kind you can't come back from, they aren't related and he had a good fitness record beforehand.

I get there's a point you have to make a decision on him long term but if the club think he can recover I'll keep my fingers crossed for him.

Why would you proceed on the assumption he won't be available if the injury timeline suggests he will?

I also never said I'd write him off this season. I said I'd have no expectations,  there's a difference.

I generally agree with what you are saying and the sentiments of it. Really want him back and playing well but I’d say it is a low probability now.

I would disagree with the he had good fitness beforehand statement.

An ankle operation and two very bad hamstring injuries before doing his ligaments when essentially walking is not good at all.

Aye I understand the concern obviously.  I am just hopeful he needs a run of playing and training and he can learn to trust his body again.

He played a lot more than that. He played in 13 games.

I know a good few regular Thistle fans, I shall enquire about Neilson's long term form.

McKay played in a bounce game v Dundee

lost 5-1

I assume it was a young side put out based on that result?

Halkett needing a small operation apparently. He's missed an incredible amount of games in the past 2 years.

Mckay played an hour and assisted the goal for Forrester.

Says the first team players Oda, Tagawa, Devlin, Cochrane and Forrest played. A lot of youngsters played like McFarlane in goals, Rathie, Sandilands, Wilson and Stevenson.

Thanks for that.

5-1 defeat ffs every ***** oot 😜

Hands up and apologies, you are spot on, i thought after his hamstring injury against Celtic he was out until just before the cup final. But he indeed came back  before his ankle injury. So 13 games.

So updated numbers

32 games out of 125 if he does not make it back this season, since start of Jan 2022.

All went quiet regards Kent so to me that’s no good news. We are really missing him

As someone said the other week when we were told he would be out a few weeks then don’t be surprised if that turns into a lot longer

We could do with him back for the Killie game.

Yeah need to tread carefully with him, sounds more like they are opening his knee up to see what the problem is rather than repairing anything. Just look at Botman from Newcastle, he did his knee a while back and they rushed him back and he's now out for 9 months with an ACL injury. Their fans are saying he wasn't fit and shouldn't have been playing as he clearly wasn't right.

I suspect we have seen the last of Haring in a Hearts shirt, he goes with my best wishes, a terrific player when he was fit pre injury. I still think we would have won the cup in 2019 if he had managed to play the 90 minutes.
