Mikey1874
As the World Cup starts today, thinking of Scotland just missing out. It was a pleasure watching the "defending champions" getting humped by 9 wickets as they did. Two fine unbeaten centuries by Conway and Ravindra. The scale of the victory will also impact significantly on the NRR for both sides. Malinga the Swinga
A real hammering for England today and hopefully a sign of what's to come. It's India or Pakistan for me as winners.
Mikey1874
Something people might not realise is when the Netherlands knocked out Scotland they were missing some of their best players as the English counties mainly wouldn't release them. Making a good start today against Pakistan.
Mikey1874
Good to see the Netherlands soundly beaten though they did give a good go of it till two thirds through. Pakistan fast bowlers showing some needle too. The pattern is now set with team winning toss batting second. Its a problem playing in India with these times. Basically you are playing in very different conditions in the afternoon in the light then in the evening in the dark. Makes it more of a lottery than it should. Winning the toss decides who wins. Footballfirst
The Aussies are taking a hammering from SA, not helped by dropping 5 catches in the SA innings. However, Hawkeye and the TMO haven't helped their response. First it looked like the ball that got Smith was going down the leg side, but Hawkeye gave it three reds much to the astonishment of Smith and the commentators. The Stoinis decision was on a par with the recent Liverpool incorrect VAR decision. The on-field decision was not out for a catch behind. The ball had hit the glove on its way through to the keeper, but was not in contact with the bat, as clearly shown in the replays. Bizarrely, the TMO judged that the glove was in contact with the other glove so was in contact with the bat, and the umpire's decision was reversed to out. The replays looked pretty conclusive that both gloves were apart when the ball hit the glove.

Malinga the Swinga
India smash Pakistan but that's not the big news. In T20 match, Argentina women scored 427 for 1 wicket. That's over 21 an over! Chile bowled out for 63 in response. Quite the victory

Quite the victory Some incredible and record breaking stats in the Argentinian innings. 350 put on for the first wicket. Unbelievably, no sixes scored. 73 extras of which 64 were no balls. One Chilean bowler bowled a single over, but conceded 52 runs, with no wides but 17 no balls. I can't work out how the other 35 runs were scored without any sixes, unless there were numerous overthrows. Joey J J Jr Shabadoo
England doing particularly shite against Afghanistan. Afghanistan were all out for 284 (1 ball short of full 50 overs). England currently 68/3, and a quick glimpse of English heads in hands.

Footballfirst
After Argentina's Women's record breaking win over Chile, their second T20 saw Argentina constrained to (just) 300/6 off their 20 overs. Chile, however, was bowled out for a measly 19, with extras accounting for 15 of those runs. In the 3rd match Argentina again batted fist, scoring 333/1. In reply, Chile managed to avoid another record low score, by scoring 22 all out. However, 21 of those runs were extras, with only their #9 batter scoring a single. I ever there was a mismatch in sport, this could be a prime example. Edited October 16, 2023 by Footballfirst

Mikey1874
Could be a classic game building Australia v Pakistan. Warner and Mitchell Marsh both scored centuries in 259 opening partnership but Pakistan came back to limit them and have made a good start. Still would be a World Cup record chase though Pakistan hold that from earlier this time beating Sri Lanka. http://www.fawanews.com/Australia vs Pakistan.html

Malinga the Swinga
English media had them favourites to win this whole thing. Rot started moment Stokes allowed back into to team despite him being unfit and despite him not being in squad for last couple of years (he retired). Hopefully they get pumped in rest of games. Malinga the Swinga
If Sri Lanka's captain had backed his bowler first ball of game, after umpire had refused to give a plum lbw, then they would have been in worse state. If Sri Lanka could actually field and catch, Stokes would have already been out but they can't and he isn't. I'd therefore suggest this game isn't over by long way. Mikey1874
The World Cup has finally come to life with 2 brilliant close games. Pakistan just lost out by 1 wicket to South Africa which included an umpires call lbw not given and No 11 batsman keeping out 90mph balls at the stumps. Now Australia have just beaten New Zealand by 5 runs in the highest ever aggregate score thanks to some brilliant fielding last balls. If you rely on the averages, Stokes isn't within the world's top 50 one day batsmen over the last 4 years. He isn't reliable enough to play as a specialist batsman. In England terms he's behind Malan, Root, Bairstow, Buttler and Roy in the averages.

I'm certain that several new batsmen have been guilty of that in the past but not called out for it. There is already too much time wasted in international cricket, e.g. slow over rates due to discussions on field placings between captain and bowler far too often during an over etc.
Mikey1874
One of the most experienced players at the whole tournament. And he didn't need a helmet to face first ball as it was a spinner bowling. Well done. And good work by Bangladesh appealing for it.
