I wouldn't be against giving Naismith the job. On the face of it, it's a bit big for a first managerial job but it the cap fits, why not. Passion, work ethic. knows the club, gets Hearts and doesn't tolerate shirkers or troublemakers.

No change in opinion for me yet - has always been an end of season decision. That was good today though.

Let see how the next two games go but if we get third then he’s in with a shout

I've seen enough from Naismith in his few games in charge to warrant him getting the gig on a permanent basis. Thought he had us playing great today. 30 shots on goal is pretty impressive.

Like how sets his team up, has he convinced me ? Not sure, first half against st Mirren leaves a sour taste but he doesn’t have his own players and hasn’t had a preseason. Regardless loving his football.

If there is even a chance we can continue to play like this we would be off our rocker to look elsewhere.

that wasn’t the broken Aberdeen team from earlier in the season, they were compact, niggly, cynical and defensively solid.  And we absolutely battered them.

If we had shooting boots on could very easily have been 5/6 again.

this is the style of football we all want surely. And tynecastle back to its best

you expect to fix every problem instantly? Just doesn’t work like that. The direction of travel is the measure.

Absolutely not and I’m maybe being a little harsh, I wouldn’t complain one bit if he gets the job. Plenty will though, despite the clear and obvious difference.

I think it would be mad to give him the job before the end of the season. Imagine this place if he got the job then lost the derby.

I want us battling like that and showing some passion every week. I'm far more open to him staying on permanently than I was a few weeks ago. 2 more games to stake his claim

Let’s see how he gets on at Ibrox, interested to see how he lines us up. Not suggesting results in Glasgow determine wether a Hearts manager is good enough but I really want one who’ll go there and at least try and get us on the front foot.

I want more of the football I’ve mostly seen since Naismith took over. Was unsure before today but I’m now on side.

**** that turgid shite we’ve endured beforehand.

He’s improved players and got us playing exciting football. Experienced number two to lean on, whether that’s Frankie or not, and the jobs a good ‘un.

I'm very near this point. The positive tactics are so refreshing and the work-rate and desire from the players today was different class.

The one question I would put to anyone before they're given the job, though, is how they're going to get us winning games away from home on a regular basis - because that's where most Hearts managers have tended to fall short in my time supporting the club.

Great today but I'm not there yet. 2-1 at home over Aberdeen with no Shinnie or Duk, even when we looked great while doing it, isn't quite enough.

Needs to close the deal with a good showing at Ibrox and a thumping win over Hibs.

Didn't see the game, but saw his post match interview.

I wouldn't start crying if he got the job, even on a temporary basis. He's clearly got drive and a vision.

I think coming into a difficult situation at the business end of the season, he’s done pretty well. He’s been able to consistently replicate that attacking style at home which is good to see. Away games have continued to be poor though ( although I think the players mentally struggle with these games more than coaching problems )

Would love him to stay in some capacity but probably too inexperienced for the full time gig in my eyes. Would love to be proved wrong though.

I’m getting to the stage I want him to be giving a chance. Every home game we’ve turned up since. The players need the same mentality away from home. But I’ve seen enough he’s got the team playing the way I want.

The inverted fullbacks and getting cammy in between the lines has changed us

His enthusiasm is infectious! He stood on the touchline cajoling and encouraging the players for 90 minutes and they are responding!

I would rather have an experienced, preferably non-Scot however if Naismith gets a point or 3 on Wednesday night I will start to think otherwise.

Today was very good, but I am still inclined to look elsewhere, but he is one for maybe next time.

I guess we will see how the next two games go, though.

inverted full backs were very good today, the system and the way we played I can get on board with.

I agree, I’m getting to the stage I want him to be given a chance. Comes across well and has us playing good attacking football. Not had long but our home performances have been very impressive, st mirren not so, but still ground out a draw.

thing for me is any manager we appoint is a risk. There is no guarantees they will  be successful. We have been crying out for football like we have seen at our last three home games. Who is going to come in and get us playing better? How do we know they will get us playing better? Yeah he’s not experienced but we are constantly saying youngsters need a chance in the first team etc managers need to start somewhere and get an opportunity as well. We will see how the next two games go but right now I’m leaning towards giving him the job

After today, I'm narrowly leaning towards giving him the job. Would like to see what he can do with Halkett, Beni, Boyce and a few new signings. Maybe add a specialist defensive coach to the team 'cos we are honking from set pieces and make too many mistakes at the back.

Imagine Naismith got to sign a couple of his 'own' players and what we could achieve should we finish 3rd or even qualify for the conference league via 4th.

becuase we have had great success finding managers who like to play football like we did today.?

I mean I’m 43 and I think maybe we’ve had jim Jeffries and George burley who’ve tried to play like this.

telling you now.  If we let Naismith go it will be a big mistake, we won’t get him back.

we won’t win every week, but I’ll take this kind of football no problem.

in fact - if we let him go and end up with a slugball manager I’d be apoplectic. Give naisy the opportunity.  We may just have found a very very good one

That is a fair point.  He does seem to know how the type of football we want to see.  If we see it ok the next two games, I. Oops be persuaded.

Part of it is my reservations for giving interim managers the job permanently.  As good as they may do, they often benefit from the new manager/sacked manager bounce, get the job full time, then don’t do anywhere near as well.

I will grant you though, he would be a more inspiring option than the ‘usual suspects’.

It’s the way we are playing.  If we had Barry Ronson and won 7/8 games in a row then no absolutely no

Because it’s turgid murder ball and not sustainable! They will start to concede sooner or later and once the confidence is sapped from that team they are done.

Still two games to go, two positive performances needed but it's clear to see that we've improved in the short period that he's been incharge.

I wouldn't complain if he was given it if we couldn't get our top target.

Good to see us finish with 11 players, kind of wonder what might have been in the Celtic game.

Naismith is getting a tune out of Oda, and seems to have added some backbone and dog into Hearts.  Enjoying our play after a lacklustre season up to now, but I'd like to see how we go against sevco on Wednesday.

For now, I'm trying to come to terms with shouting for St Mirren at Pittodrie.  I feel dirty, and not in a good way.

I tend to think the same way.

“I said from day one that I wanted an attacking team that will cause teams problems and today's an example of that,” Naismith said.

“On top of that, there is a clear style developing. I want something that will last and create an identity for a club that's crying out for one.”

It’s what everyone wants mate. Except we’ve been told from certain posters that’s too much to expect or that performance doesn’t matter or even that it’s a bit ‘Hibs’ to want an exciting style.

One thing is for sure Neilson wasn't impressing Naismith!

If we gain any ground on Aberdeen next week it’s his job to lose going into the final game of the season. I said at halftime it would define where he goes as a manager with how he manages the second half and he passed with flying colours for me.

I’ll be honest though I’m still erring on the side of caution. Aberdeen haven’t won in 3 after today since announcing Robson as full time head coach. We will see what happens between now and the end of the season.

The thing is, never ever in a million years would Neilson be able to turn a 1 goal deficit into a 2-1 win with so much on the line.

A result like today, would just not happen under Neilson - so praise to Naismith et al for this.

We don’t look like a better team under Naismith, we just play like a better team under him because we play to our strengths and are positive and attacking with it.

Yes we look like we can concede at times, but we also look like we can score  - and scoring goals wins games.

In ten games from 1/2/2023 we scored 10 and conceded 19.  Granted 2 games against Celtic during this time.

Under Naismith alone, we have scored 10 and conceded 7.  That’s in five games.

At the moment, it’s a no-brainer to have Naismith.

I think the first part of your response answers the second! The positive tactics and work rate.

You can tell Naismith knows football from the way he talks as well. Night and day from the garbage and dour stuff Neilson came out with.

Feel we're just a couple of first team players and a stronger bench away from having a really good squad.

nonsense isn’t it.

we won’t be perfect becuase quite simply we don’t have the players for it yet but what he is trying to do is very clear, and what he is trying to do is what we have been asking for for years. And the players are clearly responding.

Lasy 3 home games 30+ shots against RC, dominate Celtic whilst 11 v 11 and create a lot, 30+ shots against Aberdeen.

stmirren away was disappointing but we ground out a point and I’m not unrealistic enough to think someone will fix everything overnight.

naismith should be the manager IMO.  Show a bit of faith.

He’s absolutely right with that. Certainly put himself in the frame for the job anyway.

Thank feck we got rid of Neilson, was sucking the life out of the club, along with Levein, for the best part of 10 years.

So looking forward to the wee team game coming up if we press and play like that.

Players seem to respect Naismith.

Agree with this. I had only seen the results not the performances. Aberdeen were basically a long ball team, played very little football.

Every appointment is a risk, but we can clearly see a style of football with Naismith and it is very much the crowd pleasing style.

It is if it's coupled with losing more than you win ala Hibs. But I'd give him the job, he is no more a risk than the like of wilder who is being touted.
