We are 1 point behind the Italians, hardly need drugs too be positive, lol.

It's a bit like the league, all the doom and gloom about our league position, but we were a win last Sat from being 2nd, and given all our issues so far this season, plus Europe etc, only 6 points off Rangers as it is.  Really not so bad.

Same in Europe, 1pt behind Fiorentina halfway through, you'd probably have taken.

Hoooowever, in both competitions, you look at the upcoming fixtures and think.... well, got some tough times ahead!!

Even another 3pts on the board in the league with the fixture list we have would have been really nice just as a wee cushion.  That livi game, or 2 more against Hibs, I suppose.  Same in Europe, again, but then where would we have got those extra points!?!?

Team wise, I think Robbie needs to take Neilson out of the firing line. Kio and the like didn't play well, but are big enough and ugly enough to take that criticism on the chin. I think Neilson needs a wee break and can come back into the team in a few weeks. I don't see him putting in anything other than a bad performance. :(

Gordon

Haring Sibbick Kingsley

Atkinson                  Cochrane

Kio

Snodgrass

Forrest Humpheys McKay

Best 11 I can think of. Smith likely injured, Devlin suspended and Neilson needing a break. Get Harings experience into the defence. Sibbick playing in the middle where he's most comfortable and Kingsley playing left of a back 3 where he is most comfortable. Humphrys for me looked dangerous on the ball but not much of a goal threat. I think Snodgrass might be able to help us on that front. Especially as Grant is the alternative. Shankland didn't do enough on Thursday to keep his place IMO. Can bring him on later once Humphrys has ran himself out.

Worth thinking about Conor Smith too. He's impressed so far I think, so could be a better option than GMS or perhaps even Gino.

****ing grim team though.

Feels like a must win game to try and get some momentum going in terms of the league. No mistake it’ll be a difficult game on a historically very poor pitch.

I’d like to see Kingsley at left back in a back four.  Possibly Haring in the middle with Sibbick. Atkinson at right back. We’d get the best out them in their correct positions.

Lots of options in midfield but we shouldn’t be getting overrun or outnumbered.

Not bad but I'd start C Smith before Grant.

Big game tomorrow now. Win & were in 4th, 1 point behind the luckiest team in Europe, lose & were a game ahead of the early relegation candidates.

Team that should play tomorrow.

Gordon

Back 4

Atkinson Haring Neilson Kingsley

Midfield four

Forest kio Grant McKay

2 striker

Shankland Humphreys

No pissing about with it at the back or boring us to tears.

Get it up the park and in their faces.

Lose this and Neilson will have lost 2 in a row to McInnes.

Feels like a must-win game, given recent results and performances. But we won't win, given our record against them, our inability to defend crosses and create chances.

The team look low in confidence and with Robbies post Fiorentina comments basically admitting he set them up for damage limitation, they've probably lost a bit of belief.

I can't see us getting a win til maybe Motherwell on 6th Nov?

I’d be happy enough with that team & they tactics. Although I wouldn’t be adverse to dropping Kio out for maybe Halliday.

Real test of our confidence and steeliness tomorrow.

He needs to pick the team accordingly. Ditch the recent passengers and get the guys in who are prepared to work hard and naturally show a bit toughness.

I’d definitely be starting Ginnelly and Humphrys. I’d keep Shankland in because he’s at least shown fight in this tougher spell for him.

Draw at the very best, unfortunately.  Not got a great record at Rugby Park

We’ve actually a better record there than we do at Tynie. Won 2 of the last 3 albeit the last match was a 3-0 defeat. Massive game, for a number of reasons.

All roads lead to Gorgie

My Heart says one nil to us, my head says one nil Killie. 0-0 then!

I'd take a draw at Rugby Park tbh. Although we should be winning but given the state of us and how solid Killie are, a draw would be ok and would stop the rot.

I wouldnt have Ginnelly anywhere near the starting 11. Apart from the game in Latvia he’s been terrible for a good year now.

I would play Forrest he is a scrapper and can actually score and make things happen.

True, but lost the last 5 against killie, okay 4 at home, not good.

The 3-0 was Stendel though.

I'd take Forest out, add Halliday, and have the three hunting as a pack, freeing McKay to try to be John Colquhoun.

I believe it was in fact Nanny McPhee..

You are right, it was Stendel before that.  How could I forget Austin’s time in charge?

I know. What a time to be alive!

If I’m not mistaken, we went 3-0 extremely quickly.

Hopefully something resembling the reverse tomorrow. I’d take a scrappy 0-1 🤞🏼

Point would be acceptable

They’ve just been promoted from the championship and aren’t a good side imo. We need to set up to win and beat them.

So many potential permutations but I'd go with:

Gordon

Haring - Sibbick - Kingsley

Aktinson - Grant - Kio - Cochrane

Humphrys - McKay

Shankland

Killie will be pretty physical and aggressive so our own mentality will have to be better. Ash Taylor is a threat at set pieces so I've have Haring mark him for those. Ideally I'd rather have Grant further forward, not much between him and Haliday in this formation.

For me McKay and Shankland shouldn't start in Florence so no harm in playing them tomorrow. If McKay is quiet in the first half he should be subbed at HT. Snodgrass and Forrest to get approx. 30 mins. Smith to be on the bench after going off on Thursday.

Prediction: Killie 1 Hearts 2

Yep, Stendel had us almost as quickly 3 down to them at tynie.
win tomorrow. We usually bounce back.

Even at this early in the season, we absolutely have to win tomorrow….with the run of fixtures coming up, if we don’t win then we could be perilously close to the relegation playoff place by the end of October.

I'd completely forgot we signed him. A fit version would hopefully create that link between midfield and attack that we have been missing.

He’s came to the Tynecastle’ Bide a wee’ rest home for fecked up footballers, ‘ Spend your last year with us and get your last big pay packet in peace’ . Only at Hearts do we waste money like this.

that version may arrive by the end of the season…as he looks very unfit.

If we can mark and header the ball away and try defending  I think we'll win.

If we chuck in early goals,  defend like we have been doing then we could be in the brien stuff.

6-3 Hearts.

No Cochrane? He's been our most consistent performer.
