Exactly. I find it absolutely mental that folk actually buy jam instead of making their own.

And don't get me started on butter.

Its those ***** who buy milk that boil my piss.

How difficult is it to milk your own cow?  Christ on a hairy bike.

People who maybe can’t Peel potatoes due to health conditions ? Arthritis ?

Possibly but is it not just another needless prepackaged, plastic wrapped convenance food? All the packaging that comes with just about anything and everything these days is ridiculous.

I reckon making Jam is easier than making mash tatties.

Chuck raspberries in a pot and heat them till theyre boiling. Add sugar, let it dissolve/bring back uo to boil. Melt in a little butter. Pour into jar.

No chance, I watch my wife making jam, the only thing that could be easier that a mashed tattie to make is a boiled tattie and it doesn't take Gordon Ramsey to go from a boiled tattie to a mashed one!

Takes usage of two usable hands and some strength though!

Let us know how you get on making mashed potatoes when you're using a zimmer.

Are, fair enough, but what percentage of people who buy them, or other such stuff, couldn't boil and mash a tattie?!

There will undoubtedly be lazy ****ers who buy that, rather than just those unable to actually make mash.

Reminds me of seeing sliced cauliflower 'steaks' in the supermarket.

That's my point, of I accept the point of health issues, but all the extra energy and plastic it takes to put ready made mashed potato on the supermarket shelf is a getting ridiculous, we all hear about plastics and pollution and food miles and the rest but folk, who don't need to, buy this type of thing.

Why would anyone boil a potato when you can buy baby new potatoes in wee microwavable bags?

For maybe military dried rations but that's it.

Can't you cook new potatoes in a microwave without the plastic bag? We don't have a microwave so I genuinely don't know.

It's all the plastic that gets to me, you can buy loose potatoes an put them in a paper, recycle or compost the bag after.

I use the microwave to heat up the milk/melt butter in a cup before I pour it into my mashed tatties pan. Never use cold milk/cream, will make the mash go a bit lumpy.

Sweet potato mash is the way forward anyway, tastes pretty good already so doesn't need much added to it.

Celeriac and Potato mash is my favourite, salt, pepper, butter and a wee bit of nutmeg.

Interesting fact about Rosa Parks is that she wasnt the first black woman to refuse to give up her seat which led to the bus boycott.

There were several but amongst the first was a teenager called Claudete Colvin some 9 months before the NAACP decided to use Parks and back her legal challenge due to her being older, more scceptable and more photogenic.
