Just to change the theme to being nice about someone I worked on a book launch Claire Balding did and she’s a lovely person with no airs about here. Rather annoyingly so when I just wanted to finish work and go home and she chatted for ages to all the people getting their books signed.

She was very complimentary about my dog in a pub when she was going past to have a slash. That puts her good in my books!!

You could look at the treatment of her coaches for a start, particularly Andrew Richardson.

Rico was always a temporary appointment. When she had success with him in the coach's box, they wanted to keep him on but he didn't want the globe-trotting lifestyle due to family commitments at home. So he put a hefty price on the table to continue and Emma's dad got the message and said 'no'.

Not saying that she (or her dad) are easy on coaches in general. They want to pay peanuts and control what the coach does with Emma, which means that they're either hamstringing their coach or buying in mediocre lackeys.

Richardson has said that this wasn't the case.

Well, michty me (as Oor Wullie would have said)!

I had that other version of his story at the time from two separate people who are in the tennis world, one of whom had, at the time, a son being coached by Richardson.

The bit in the story about Raducanu's dad wanting more of a household name is certainly familiar, although he wanted to do it on a budget that involved paying little more than Richardson had been getting. Maybe he got the KB from Raducanu due to his financial demands being thought of as unreasonable (which would tie up the two versions of the story)?

Apart from the potential financial benefits, I think that Richardson was well out of that camp over the last couple of years.

I was just having a look down the latest scores on the BBC, which included the Wimbledon Juniors. There's British female called Mingge Xu, and an American called Kaylun Bigun...they really need to team up in the mixed doubles

Might have to rethink that assessment ,. Novak will probably be at a disadvantage if the current match goes on and on.   Later start should favour a younger man. Least it cant go on until all hours due to W curfew at 11pm

Well this match hasnt lived upto much sadly.

I miss the old manic Monday at Wimbledon. Felt that was a much better format and led to a much better second week than what we currently get.

Jesus are the Brit commentators that desperate that they have De Minaur as an adopted  " Brit" cause hes giving Boulter one ?  Deperate stuff. No doubt the clowns in the crowd will be screaming for him if he gets to play the Goat.

Seems like Novak is trying to get the crowd to hate him even more. Tactical as he turns into beast mode when the crowd are against him. Would love to see him get a 25th. Although in the grand scale of things I can't see most of his records being broken.

As much as I like Novak he's being a Judy Murray tonight.

Id agree . Hes made a bit of a tit of himself. That crowd arent worth it. I think its quite sad he still feels he needs the " love " of the crowd.  He shouldnt need it. **** em if they cant appreciate his greatness. However  i think he wears his heart on his sleeve a lot. God bless him really.

Also seems like something has been going on this year with Novak. Not just with his tennis. Sure he alluded to some things in an interview not long back. But an irritated and fired up Novak will be tough to beat. Even by the two new young studs Carlos & Jannik.

Hope Rybakina wins. She's my tennis crush now Kirilenko no longer plays. That slavic beauty is easy on the eye.

Shes a superb player. So natural on the court and has deceptive power and a fantastic serve. She is also quite stunning .  She looks very tall too. No checked her height but she must be 5 .10 or something.

When Carlito first caught my attention (US Open, 2021 - many people were fixating on something else happening at the time), I posted on here that he was the next real deal. At the time, there didn't seem to be anyone else threatening to challenge for the top spot and I may have ventured a guess that he would skoosh all the records.

However, we've now got Jannik Sinner, who I'm sure will push Alco in the same way that Nadal pushed Djoko. Ruud/Rune, Shelton, FA-A, Fils and (possibly) Draper will be keeping them honest as Murray, Stan and Delpo did for the previous "Big 3" - maybe even this big French lunk, Giovanni Petchey-Perricard will make them think twice. Plus, of course, Jake "The Jambo" Fearnley :D

With Meddlers, Fritz, Paul, Tsitsi and Zverev all with something to give, it should be a healthy 'out with the old - in with the new' over the next few seasons and Alco won't have it all his own way as I first thought.

Brilliant from Novak. Knows exactly what he's doing and will have more of an edge going forward. 🎾

What an arsepiece Djokovic is.  Got it wrong about supposed disrespect.  Had it explained to him.  Might have used it to fire himself up but carried on being a fud.  Kept on doubling down in various interviews.  Got quite arsey in one and stomped off.

It’s because in the wider scheme, he knows lots of people don’t like him and think he’s a dick. He finds the lack of popularity hard to take

He would be as popular as Federer if he behaved as gracefully as him.

He showed a great deal of grace and acted like a true sportsman after last year's final.  Him and his wife hung around and applauded Alcaraz as he went around with the trophy.  Once the contest is over,  congratulate and be happy for the winner.  That's a sure sign of a man comfortable in his own skin.

Gone back to being a tit.  It's up to him.

Enjoyed the start to the Sinner and Medvedev match. Could be one that goes all the way.

Looks like Sinner might not last the duration with illness.

Sinner looked terrible.  Maybe he might feel better just by being given the reassurance of having been seen by the doctor.
