Rudi Skacel Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Thats a shame. However she isnt the first player to sacrifice doubles for singles, she wont be the last. Shame for Andy but its understandable. Quote
neilnunb Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Murray had his farewell. Do you really think he'd want to go through all that again? Any subsequent cheerio would have been a complete letdown and a distraction. Raducanu has had 3 (?) operations on her wrist so they'll also want to be careful with that. She is back enjoying her tennis, looking happy and getting fitter. Isn't that the most important thing? A bit weird for grown men to constantly want to run her down given she achieved something that no other British female had done for over 40 years. Quote
Mikey1874 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Good to see the strong contempt for Raducanu remains. Quote
neilnunb Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Norrie about to go 2 sets down. 😐 Rusedski tipped him to win in 5 sets which seemed a bit optimistic. Quote

Some people watch tennis but dont really "get it" from what I've seen she is a very positive player that has total belief in herself. I expect her and Andreeva to win alot Edited July 6, 2024 by rudi must stay Quote

neilnunb Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Dart has just been broken to go 5-6 down in the second set. She was up a break in it but was quickly broken back. She also missed a simple volley to give herself match point. 😐 Quote

Mikey1874 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Well played Zverev. At least Norrie got to celebrate wildly winning a lot of points so maybe he won that. Þ Quote
neilnunb Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Norrie out. Played well but Zverev's serve was just too good. Quote
neilnunb Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Dart was a break up in the third set but now a break down. Quote
JudyJudyJudy Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Jabeur is one of those completely unpredictable players . Looks like the shite Jabeur is playing the day . Very disappointing . I’m not much of a fan of Svitolva but she’s got a chance this year . I recall a few years ago she was the next best thing , but it didn’t seem to materialise . Quote

Her singles match is more important than Murray's tribute game. I feel a little sorry Murray is not getting his finale but at least we won't have to suffer the greeting. Quote

So much for that side of the draw, that's 2 out of those 3 gone. Not that Dart is, or was ever likely to be, around to take advantage. Quote

It confirmed for me that there wasn't a quiet agreement between the Murray camp and Raducanu's to use Emma as the sacrificial lamb in order to get Murray out of the commitment. She's not being given the best advice, is she? Possibly thought that playing with Andy would be god for her profile given that she was going to get pumpded oot in round 1. A plan that was scuppered when her original R1 oppo withdrew. I don't blame her for concentrating on the singles and would have thought that Judy, of all people, would be sympathetic to a player who's making her way back from serious injury and operations. At first, I wondered whether Judy was being sarcastic about Marcus Buckland's tweet using the word "astonishing" but, rather than clarify that, she made her social media go quiet, suggesting that she knew she's made a boo-boo. By the time they start filtering back in, Raducanu is 3-0 down. I mean, she's the last British player left in the singles and obviously a home support always helps. Instead the organisers rush the players on and take away a main advantage. Sun playing a bit too well at the moment though. Quote
JudyJudyJudy Posted July 7, 2024 Posted July 7, 2024 Sun is not bad actually . First time I’ve seen her play . Course she has that leftie serve . It’s often a wonder shot for so many of the greats. Quote
