No idea of his allegiances (I’m guessing St.J given his career) but at least a few of his mates are Jambos (not that it makes a difference mind). He’s certainly had a good first season but, I don’t think it can be argued that he took over a pretty strong foundation from Wright. Improved things for sure but... at this size of club with the scale of the mess/rebuild we face? experience + broad shoulders for the task in hand which is colossal. But I would expect him to be in the conversation.

The flip side of the experienced McInnes or Neil is someone like Davidson. Decent playing career and a varied coaching career under different managers at different teams. I suspect if we advertised for someone on those parameters we would get some interesting responses. You just need to have a clear idea of the kind of character and approach to the game you want. Zen Jambo
Pointless to think about new manager. Because if Robbie does go, Budge will take so long dragging out the recruitment process. Lines like “Finding the right candidate” and “Exploring all possibilities” and “Exceptional amount of high quality candidates” Will be trotted out. Then, if we finally get a candidate they’ll be far too late into the transfer window. We’ll end up scraping the barrel for recruitment and start the season on the wonk. Then we’ll hear: “needs a transfer window to get his own players in” Followed by: “Clear out needed, clear the decks” round and round and round ....... Martin_T
To be honest, I don't think think either McInnes or Neil are achievable. McInnes is likely to be high up on WBA's shortlist to replace Sam Allardyce in the summer and Alex Neil still has enough credit in the bank down south to get another Championship job were one to come up. Admittedly it's a huge step up for him, but Stewart Petrie may be worth a look? He's had Montrose on an upwards curve for 3 seasons now. Malinga the Swinga
Duncan Ferguson, asst manager at team going for Champions League qualification and learning from one of great European managers, earning a fortune, to chuck that away to manage team in Scotland, who might just win a cup every 10 years and have almost no transfer budget. Also best tell him if we lose a goal in his first match or haven't scored after 5 minutes, experts on here will demand he be sacked. Aidy Boothroyd, the man responsible for taking cream of English youngsters to tournaments and then getting them pumped, playing guys out of form and position and looking terminally out thought. Actually, he would fit in really well. Andy Kirk - within a week, you would have same negative moaning about no experience, Levein clone, he's shite comments being made. Hearts job is a nightmare at the moment as fans demand instant success, whilst placing some romantic notion of style and fun above results. If Neilson goes, we will end up with conveyor belt manager and be in same situation in 18 months time. Only alternative is to appoint manager and give them time, but our supporters won't allow anyone that luxury.

DH1986
We need to be realistic.....for a number of reasons. So with that in mind......Neil and McInnes are the most realistic targets. Whoever it is has one hell of a job on their hands......it’s an almost total rebuild with 10-15 signings required. That could well be an attractive option for someone but it will take more cash than I think we’ve got in the bank....unless JA is feeling particularly generous this summer. Bongo 1874
Depends on what style of football we want to play as a club, if it's attacking, I can name between 15-20 people that would be suitable for the job. If it's defensive Derek mcinness is your best bet, similar to Robbie. Counter attacking Alex Neil. All depends on what style of play the club wants.
