Some grounded funtime...   I actually used to like ludo alot as my favourite board game.   No idea why 😊. Probably because it was easy to play.   Not as exciting and frustrating as snakes and ladders.

The snakes and ladders board I remember had a snakes head at 98 and the tail all the way down to 14 or something

James May had a TV Prog on yesteryear toys.

He gave this to Art College studits to see what they could come up with.

The results were jaw droppingly good.

I was hopeless, no bloody imagination.

We have the original 1930s version of this in the family. It’s a bit tired now but most of it is intact.

Our family played Ludo every evening for about 4 months during last years lockdown.

Spent most of the summer being tactically outthought by a 7-yr old.

Main thing was it took them away from screens for some wholesome family fun 🤩

Working steam engine - meths burner underneath to heat the boiler then you could run grinders etc off the drive belt.

Still can't believe my folks let me loose with it.

Only time in my life I've had methylated spirits in my hands was as a 10 year old at Xmas as part of a chemistry set.

My folks must have been bonkers too.

I liked how they would name more than one team for a set of colours

This was the first packaging I can remember

I had something like this but not as good.

Just a straight line with a loop and maybe a jump at the end

The first (oldest) toy I can remember in the house. Might have been my brother's or sister's before me.

Best toy ever.

I remember when we lived in Canada in 79-81, I had the whole truck, furniture, stunt cycle set up.

There was a garter snake nest under the bush in our back garden, I set the truck (it had a ramp on the back) and had Evel jump over it... You could say he actually did jump Snake Canyon after all...

We found one of these in my work a couple of years ago. As it turns round the fishes mouths open and close revealing a bit of metal inside and you have a fishing rod with a bit of string with a magnet and whoever pulls the most fish out wins. It kept us amused for months on breaks.

I was in Toys R Us a couple of years ago looking for Xmas present ideas with my wife for the grand kids..

I was like "LEGO!! theyll love it!!"

Then I saw it.. pre shaped crap encouraging absolute zero imagination...

Sorry kids.. 90% of your fun has been destroyed by arseholes thinking for you because you are too precious to think for yourselves...

My wee brother had one. I think it was called Matchbox Superfast. It had yellow tracks.
