Broon just doesn't work there. Also, everyone talking about proper breakfast rolls has reminded me of something else you can't get in Texas. Ask for rolls, get offered hamburger sesame seed nonsense. Get yourself to **** mate. Guess I'm having a bacon piece instead. Also also, the American missus is partial to a bacon piece (and Gregg's sausage rolls, and macaroni pies for that matter). So I guess there might be hope for them after all Not seen a Macaroni pie in Greggs for a while I’m afraid, Mark McGills butchers in Currie or his bakers at Slateford is the place for them these days. You can get them at Diggers and in the Hearts bar too. A Scottish Bakers would make a fortune out there.

It’s been a lot easier than I thought it would be. I think I will have odd bacon roll, burger, hot dog or fish supper and that’s why it’s been easy enough, and Greggs being closed 😆. Not had a drink either since lockdown, or you could since Hearts stopped playing 🤔🤷🏾♂️🙈?!?!

If you were to think of the bacon as a penis, then you'll understand that it wants to be enveloped in something soft and warm. So these dense, almost brick like rolls can beat it. It should be a proper bakers roll. Soft and fluffy on the inside and crispy on the outside. Failing that, a nice soft morning roll. Might as well put tartare sauce on it if you get the roll wrong. Anyway, mustard is the only civilised addition other than butter: probably Dijon for preference, but a decent German or Polish one would also be fine. (And yes - the quality of roll is important! )

Boof
Having done some research at lunchtime I can now reveal the only correct answer. As an experiment somewhat along the lines of the Robbo-mayonnaise condiment I tried one with salad cream. The result of that experiment is...don't. Just...don't. And so to HP broon sauce. As a lifelong ketchup-ist I would normally dismiss the notion of brown sauce on anything but I wasn't prepared to commit that to writing without some evidence. So a bacon roll with HP it was. And it was...honking! 'kinell - how could anyone let such a thing into their mouth? I did properly rinse the salad cream away with a proper swill of Scottish blend tea so there was no residue but holy hell, man - my post roll Bourbon biscuits needed to be augmented with some Dairy Milk to get rid of that broon sauce aftertaste. Eccchhhhhhh. And in TLDR fashion - RED ye bawbags.

(p.s. no maple syrup...?!?!?!? ) Well done! You have an excellent memory. There is a very good vegan bacon which I serve when I'm cooking a vegan breakfast for the family (along with vegan sausage, fried mushrooms, fried tomatoes, hash-brown potatoes and Akees), but when it comes to a bacon roll, I'm a strictly Ayrshire man. And I can't stand maple syrup on anything. It's too sickly sweet for my taste.
