Jambo-Jimbo
2 hours ago, Gizmo said: The concept of vaccine passports was never a conspiracy theory - it was an obvious move that was openly speculated on before the vaccines even hit arms. Don't give those fools any succour. The WHO had released a paper about 'Immunity Passports' as far back as the 24th April 2020. the virus that causes COVID-19, could serve as the basis for an “immunity passport” or “risk-free certificate” that would enable individuals to travel or to return to work assuming that they are protected against re-infection. https://www.who.int/news-room/commentaries/detail/immunity-passports-in-the-context-of-covid-19 As time went by and more became known about the virus, the following article from the 8th October 2020 discusses 'Immunity Passports' or a better term 'certification of vaccination' It is therefore suggested that a more appropriate and accurate term to be adopted following the delivery of a vaccine proven to be effective would be a ‘certification of vaccination’. https://blogdroiteuropeen.com/2020/10/08/covid-19-and-immunity-passports-the-way-forward-by-nora-ni-loideain/ So the concept of having a 'passport' or 'certificate' or some other form of proof was in the public domain from at least the 24th April 2020. It is working out at just under 1/4 of capacity for venues just now. The Edinburgh Children’s Festival has indoor shows planned for the end of May using the current projected guidelines. The biggest issue for a lot of places isn’t where the audience/crowd end up it’s how to get them there in the first place. Any venue with narrow corridors or queuing areas needs to consider that and potentially make alterations to the venue. Ditto things like toilet capacity. Hospitality has never been a source of any significant levels of a virus that is now in retreat anyway. Sensible precautions were taken last time and the majority of adults have been vaccinated. It is ludicrous to introduce nonsensical rules that ban alcohol, force restaurants to close at 8pm and that require them to provide 3.5m that none of them have. The furlough scheme, in its present format, needs to end. It is not a substitute for a business being able to trade. Owners are bleeding their savings dry while the SG obsess about Covid and use the furlough as a comfort blanket for employees who are not working. WM needs to make it clear to the SG that financial support will only be provided only to businesses that are allowed to trade as they were pre-Covid. Support will then taper off as previous trading levels are achieved

Hospitality has never been a source of any significant levels of a virus that is now in retreat anyway. Sensible precautions were taken last time and the majority of adults have been vaccinated. In case its slipped your notice that is several months straight that Edinburgh has pretty much been fully locked down and many businesses unable to trade. The reopening with laughable conditions on hospitality and live music takes the buscuit (see link I posted earlier where major names in the industry have slammed the proposals). Why does Scotland need to be a nanny state that the rest of the UK doesn't?
