*** Motherwell v Heart of Midlothian official match thread ***

Do you think they select the team by asking for a show of hands who fancies a game.

Head says Motherwell win with more catastrophic defending.

Heart says Hearts win with Meshy on the score sheet

See if MacLean scores a hat-trick....

I think he gets unfair stick because of his age. He saved us last game and still gets abused.

Hopefully he does. He's certainly capable if we actually supply him with some chances.

Playing the bandit could make it a short sesh with £22.

Maths not your strong point big man no.
£30 on at 23/20????
How does that equate to £22??

I agree . He’s no target man or lone striker. It must be brutal playing up top on your own for us. I think he does ok most games

I always think of Norman Wisdom when I see the name Grimshaw.

Anyway, I think, more in hope, that we'll get something from this game.

I know what you mean but was it not Mr Grimsdale not Grimshaw?

That'll be Naismith and Uche out of the Celtic game then.

****ing hell...what's the punishment for forfeiting games?

🤣😐

Naismith looks like he is going to be plagued with that ******* hamstring.

Motherwell pretty much at full strength.

Thought Motherwell had a sickness bug and there were a lot of them struggling.

The sad thing is and I usually slag old firm fans for this but I would struggle to name over 4 Motherwell players nowadays.

Agree as well. He does work better in a partnership but then you see Naismith and Uche together and you'll see stronger bonds on a role of toilet paper.

We don't have anyone at the club getting the best out of these players and nobody is getting the best out of them as a team either.

MacLeans the only player in that team you want for a dog fight at the bottom of the table lol, I’m the first person to criticise him too

5 AT THE BACK IT IS THEN ..Brandon and Mulraney the wing backs

Whelan and Clare midfield and Walker and co playing more forward

I would have played Uche and kept Maclean on the bench

Looks more like a flat back 4 to me.

Smith  Halkett   Berra    Brandon

 Clare   Whelan   Walker  Mulraney

               Meshino

                        McLean

What’s the deal with Damour? Injured or just dropped from matchday squad?

The only small chink of light I see, is that Motherwell play an open game. Hug the touchline & fire it in the box.

If we defend, and break well using the 3 up top behind MacLean, there will be spaces to go into. They don't tend to sit in, in banks of 4.

Yeh but we can’t defend

I guess it’s just because it’s sort of similar.

I’m feeling confident about this one, MacPhee’s last game in charge(maybe).

2-0 Hearts McLean and Berra.

Come on the Hearts!!!

Another game, another formation. Little wonder the players don’t know their arse from their elbow.

100% right.  Pick a formation and commit to it for a run of games so that players can be drilled into knowing their position, what options they should have when in the ball etc. Then wherever possible pick as close to the same starting 11 as possible to allow familiarity and partnerships to build.

This is not rocket science and McPhee has had years to work out our best formation and who he thinks is he best 11.

utter utter shambles

Dreadful team selection MacLean, Clare and Walker are mince.

Must be Joel’s turn to go in goals today.

Let's be honest, people would be saying this no matter what team he chose today.

I was there unfortunately. And he was sh!t. But then, so was Berra, Smith, Whelan, MacLean, Walker. And they all get rewarded with a starting place today.

I think that’s part of Austin’s issue. He changes things up from game to game depending on the opposition. Changing formations, different defence, midfield and attack. Over analyses and worries too much about the opposition.
