Bannon is a right-wing fanatic, a believer in the "deep state" nonsense, and a leader in the Trump cult.  He's getting the oxygen of publicity that he craves.  He's probably popping champagne tonight.  Despite today's verdict, he'll never go to jail (imo, as always).

The US has the worst WHO healthcare ranking of any high income nation and is below many middling nations. Think they're about 37th in the world or around it. Yet there's a delusion that they have "the best healthcare in the world"

I put that in quotation marks because I have heard it parroted by Republican talking heads so many times, and as you know it's utter nonsense. People here live in terror of being sick, injured, or their kids being sick or injured which isn't uncommon among kids. Because they know it could ruin their lives.

I have seen a goodly number of articles written by Americans who moved to the UK with that preconceived idea in their heads. With the additional Republican parroted line that if you're in one of those "socialist" healthcare countries, socialist is a bad word, just a grade below Nazi, and get sick you're going to die waiting for treatment.

What these people eventually come to realise is that this is utter garbage and that the NHS is infinitely superior to anything they ever had at home.

Despite all the domestic bitching about the NHS you have to experience something like this US shambles masquerading as healthcare to truly appreciate what a gift it is. A remark by one of those Americans who moved to the UK in her article praising the NHS as infinitely superior to US healthcare.

She's sitting in a doctors waiting room for her appointment and there are a couple of older ladies there waiting to be seen too. They're complaining about how long they have to wait, one complained she waited 20 minutes on her previous appointment, "scandalous" said the other.

While all this American woman could think is what they're saying amounts to this Rolls Royce isn't driving fast enough for their liking. And having experienced both it is a Rolls Royce in comparison to the American Arkansas Chug-a-Bug.

Calling this healthcare is like calling McDonalds foodcare, if you have money you get a burger. If you don't you're going hungry. Same with their "healthcare"

In one of my many jobs I used to work with some defence guys from General Electric who at that time had been in the UK for 7 or 8 years. I specifically asked  two of them if they weren't homesick and looking forward to "going home".

They both said they were very happy and intended to stay as long as possible. One said he & his missus had decided if they could, they'd  stay permanently. And it was all about health care. He went through the cost of just getting braces for his daughter and compared it to the USA - it was eye wateringly expensive.  He had no clue about the NHS until he used the service and he was blown away by it.

Probably surprised they weren't using leeches and offering a swig of brandy as an anaesthetic. You wouldn't believe some of the things they're told about the NHS here and actually fall for it.

There was a story a few years back about the NHS cremating aborted fetuses in a furnace. Here that became they're burning fetuses for heat.

And that's what happens in socialist healthcare. Get sick you're going to die waiting for treatment then you're going to be thrown in a furnace for heat.

Trump by now must have way more boxes of legal papers listing his crimes than even boxes of stolen classified documents. They will need to build a 'presidential' library just to contain all his court case material.

Could a key hydro-electric dam be Russia's next target?

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy warns hundreds of thousands of people are at risk. He alleges Russian forces planted mines at the power station in the southern region of Kherson and plan to blow it up.

It's disturbing that we probably have to consider these documents Trump was stashing at a golf club compromised. New reporting in the Washington Post saying some of the material described intelligence activities against China, and the Iranian missile program.

I begin to wonder if Trump hand picked this kind of subject material. Because according to an intelligence expert in this clip intelligence activities against China, and the Iran missile program would be at a minimum in the top 10 of the areas most crucial to the security of the nation.

Personally I would guess this China stuff might be in the top 3. What Trump has done is disastrous and he surely can't get away with it. To me this almost borders on treason.

“These are not souvenirs,” says former NSA general counsel Glenn Gerstell on reporting that secrets about China and Iran were among Trump’s trove.

“From the Department of Justice’s point of view, this raises the stakes considerably. This means we are dealing with some of the nation’s most sensitive secrets.”

If any other employee of the US government had done what Trump has done, he would already be in jail.  Trump is getting special treatment in this matter, as he has done in other matters, like sexual assault on women.

Making absolutely sure that when they do charge him, it'll be an open and shut slam dunk case.

They’re not going to be intimidated by a bunch of witless fantasists even dumber than Trump is, and that's stupidity hard to match. Do that your nation is finished.

Trumps niece Mary Trump who is a qualified psychiatrist says Trump actually knows he isn't as bright as most. It bothers him so he pretends it's not true and tries to distract from it by playing business genius.

And of course that hasn't worked either. Everything he touches turns to shit because he's an idiot.

It amuses me that there was once a sizeable Trump fan club around here. Drooling over what a genius they deemed dopey Don to be. How he's going to win another election, do this do that.

Well there was no second election win and as for doing this and that well we have what must be one of the most farcical coup attempts in history. Espionage in the form of stealing classified government documents, massive tax fraud to name but a few.

He's making history all right, but where are the fan club? Found another idiot to follow like sheep?

I know, I'm in Oklahoma, religious wackos and gun nuts. Just yesterday I heard one say that if they just took the likes of Chicago and a few other places out of the equation well gun murder would be similar to any other nation.

It didn't go down well when I pointed out that the Oklahoma city area has a murder rate of 11 in every 100,000

A rate of 9 in 100,000 for Oklahoma as a whole. While the UK has a rate of 1 in 100,000

Think that would be even lower if Tesco were selling guns to all comers? To defend themselves.

That debate is something to see. The governor laughing and mocking his opponent for pointing out something that's easily verified as correct.

Rural white reactionary America really thinks that Chicago is some hell zone instead of a lovely if badly over-policed city.

Who said this? The governor of Oklahoma? There was a debate? I honestly don't even know who the Governor is but will find out later now. When I said I heard someone say all that I meant a guy at work. If there was a debate maybe this guy watched it and was drawing from it.

He began a rant with another guy he knew would back him up though I didn't know he would till he did. He was ranting about some guy from Texas who moved to California and his neighbours were wary of him because he openly packed a gun.

What shocking and frankly moronic behaviour to be wary of the Butch Cassidy wannabe who just moved in next door. In a joking manner I interjected with could have been worse, in Britain he would have had police snipers scoping him out in minutes. And mentioned, in case they didn't know, guns are illegal there.

He says to me how many people are killed by guns there? I'm not sure if he figured I could give a relatively accurate answer to that but I can. It's typically around 40 a year which is about half of the average number of Americans who die from gunshot every day of the year.

I didn't mention that bit about Americans to him, just gave him the 40 a year in Britain. That's when he went into another rant about Chicago and a few other places I can't recall now. Take them out of it the US would probably have  a comparable murder rate with nations like Britain.

Plus taking another swipe at California by claiming their murder rate is sky high. I wasn't aware of how true or otherwise that was so didn't say anything about but checked later. California around 6 murders per 100,000 population which apparently has increased to 6 in recent times.

I didn't know that at the time but when he said that about California I chipped in with my 11 per 100,000 in the Oklahoma City area and 9 per 100,000 in Oklahoma overall.

I think they didn't want to talk to me anymore at that point so began creaming about 50 calibre sniper rifles, I kid you not, as they walked away.

Oh, and one more thing, one of them said that Russian Generals had always said they would never dream of invading the US, I have never heard this before and I have read a lot of high level military history.

But I would believe they probably never seriously dreamed of such a venture. And most definitely not now. They can't take out little Ukraine right next door FFS.

But the overriding reason they would never dream of it, straight from the Generals mouths presumably, is because of yahoos with guns. Millions of em. If it weren't for those yahoos packing guns, games on fellas Putins coming.

US army, not scary, gun toting yahoos terrifying. We should send them to Ukraine to scare the Ruskies out of there.

Makes you wonder if he actually knows anything about crime statistics in Oklahoma while so obsessed with everywhere else. I knew the murder statistic before this debate or the encounter I had with the guys at work came up. Comfortably higher than California and much higher than New York City.

Speaking of the guys at work I have no doubt they had no idea what the murder rate was till this foreigner told them. This kind listen to what guys like this governor tell them without ever verifying it. While telling me the murder rate in California is sky rocketing.

I have worked with others who were derisive of California and I don't know why. They can play with their guns in California too. Hell they can even walk around like a gun toting cowboy. So I don't quite get the spite for California. Unless it's simply because they have a history of electing democrats.

And if that's the case that's also inane.

Lawrence: A Supreme Court Justice Violated The Law In Plain Sight Today

MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell analyzes a new Supreme Court order from Justice Clarence Thomas that temporarily blocks Senator Lindsey Graham from having to testify in the Fulton County grand jury investigation into the 2020 election, despite an apparent conflict of interest given his wife’s efforts to overturn President Biden’s victory.

Everyone enjoy anti-trans anti-"woke" Trump wannabe Florida Governor Ron DeSantis pulling a Liz Truss when asked if he'll serve his full four year term as governor if re-elected (which would imply not running for President, which practically would start right away next year).

According to this guy there's a federal law requiring a supreme court judge to recuse from a case when a spouse

"is known to have an interest in the outcome of the case"

Like in this case of Thomas blocking Lindsey Graham's testimony in the Georgia election probe. We all know Clarence Thomas spouse has an interest in the criminal probe of Trump's attempt to subvert the election in Georgia.

This guy is the most corrupt individual on the most corrupt supreme court the nation has ever experienced.
