Kurskis at home to ICT. Booked for conceding a pen (which was scored) and then getting stupidly sent off when we had already made 3 subs, meaning Wallace had to go in goals.  All in the game after he dropped a routine catch at Ibrox to lose us the game.

No one mentioned Kurskis yet?

Makes Nicky Walker seem competent.

Kurskis? we could have played a 12 year old and been more confident, he was an absolute car crash, so far out of his depth it was literally terrifying

The correct answer is Kurskis. None of the rest have come close to his level of awful.

Jamie McCallister in a cup semi at Fester Road stands out.

David Obua's debut v Airdrie in a league cup game was a special sort of shite. Claimed he was a dead ball specialist, hit about 10 dreadful free kicks and missed a penalty.

Paul McCallum in the cup semi v ICT was truly terrible. He was a very poor player.

I had a very rare day off from my Saturday job and went up to Dens the day Berthe played. I didn't think he was that bad, but I think I was willing our new signing to be good, and I didn't get to many games in those days.

Oshaniwa was brilliant his debut / an early game of his when we beat Motherwell 6-0. I reckon we could have got some joy playing him as a winger - we were dreadfully short on the wings while he was here.

Beniusus was asked to play up to on his own on his debut v Hibs. It's a tough gig, he struggled thereafter.

It's McCallum for me. Carthorse. Kurskis had that howler - can't remember what he was like the rest of the game.

Pick almost any team from the late 70’’s or early 80’s (pre Doddie) and there are plenty

Brian McNeil, Archie White, Bobby Masterton and Stewart Gauld spring to mind.

Tommy Harrison coming on as a sub in a League Cup tie against St Johnstone at Tynecastle in ‘94 when we were 2-1 up, or drawing 2-2, and being subbed himself when we went 4-2 down, not because of injury, but because he was a utterly rank, showing zero interest in making anything happen, or working up a sweat.

I was at that game and thought he was very harshly treated by Tommy McLean.

Tommy came on and tried to play football, playing a ten yard pass then looking to get it back again but our team was honking at that time and the players were unwilling to take responsibility and just hoofed it as far away everytime they got the ball.

I can’t say to much as he failed at every club after he left Hearts but what a talent he was when he was younger and I think the reason he didn’t make it was because he was overcoached and tried to play to technical a game (Liam Miller had a similar experience when he joined Hibs).

Could you imagine......... ? That may have completely broken the web.

All the younger guys don’t appreciate that guys like Nade and Eskillson would’ve been superstars in that team and even Mo Berthe would’ve looked average.

The worst thing is that I still get flashbacks to these teams and random players come to mind. Like Brian Wilson, Grant Tierney and Gerry McCoy!

Voice of reason

Kevin McHattie in the loss to 9 man ICT in a cup semi at Easter Road. He kept passing the ball straight out of play and was simply appalling in the match. The whole team were embarrassing but Kevin took the biscuit.

Tall and Concalves formed the most inept and incompetent Centre Back partner ship I have ever seen in a Hearts team. Mind you Con calves came back from a loan spell at N uremburg a very competent defender.

Hans Eskillson takes the biscuit though as a total non footballer.

Hans, ha ha, lovely flowing hair, but never a player.

Obua just for laughing when he mucked it up.

Came on to post this exact thing. I actually got that bored that day I started looking and following watching the birds in the sky as it was so poor. Him being the absolute worst of the bunch though.

We remember constant bad seasons with poor crowds and zero atmosphere. Relegations because we were hopeless as opposed to points deductions then standing on the terraces at dumps like Boghead etc ??

My memory of Berthe that day is that he won everything in the air. Then when he got the ball at his feet it was like he had never played football before.

Didn't he go on to play for Raith?

Nicky Walker was the player profiled in the programme that night.

I vividly remember someone had torn the page featuring his photo out and impaled him through the neck on the fence as you walked where the Roseburn stand would be built ?

Crawford Boyd v Clydebank in late 70s early 80s.

We were 3-0 at half time before Boyd was short with 2 pass backs and contributed to more woeful defending as we hung on for a 3-3 draw.

Funnily enough,...... I used to work with a Morton fan who said the fans loved Witteveen when he went to them. One of their top men apparently.

Admittedly, they play at a different level, but I thought it strange at the time given his performances with us.

You missed Witteveen, Oshinawa and Obua. At least Witteveen had the excuse of being absolutely awful. The other two rarely broke sweat.

Honourable mentions for the howling Cathro signings Sowah, Struna, Bikey, Chouly Avolintas.  Horrible times.

Jamie Mole .....scored a great goal against St Mirren ( I think) and that was all he did , horrific player believe he still looking for a club. He is in good company with others mentioned on this thread.

It has to be Kurskis, although I’m not convinced he was actually a football player. Jamie McAllister at ER in the league cup semi not far behind. And you can take your pick of Nade games.

I know he is a 2012 legend but Mehdi Taouil against H1b5. He made Tom Taiwo look like a player. An absolute disgraceful performance. Being shite but trying, I can forgive, but that game he was a shell, a hologram would have put in a more forceful display / tackle.

My first thought was Witteveen away at at Johnstone. 2-1 up last minute gives away silly foul edge of box. Bang, 2-2, two points dropped.

But then I witnessed Aaron Hughes away at Livingston. He was just hopeless and slow. But he didn't make me as angry as Zlamal that night, for just giving up at 3-0 and not even trying for the last two goals. That was the worst performance ever.

This add on Larry Kingston v Dundee Utd.

Never tried a leg.Limped off injured to a torrent of abuse.

Shame because he could and should have been a legend.

Kurskis wins it for me, with Mo Berthe a distant second, but here are some notable mentions:

Petric and Besliga win in terms of money lost.
