It's shaping up to be one of the best championships in year with the 1.5 potential winners from recent years increased to a realistic 3 along with a lot of the second tier players really upping their game so far this year.

My head says Federer will still have to much in a close final against Nadal but my heart says Djokovic just to shake it up even further. He put in a good showing against Nadal last week and is certainly due a result.

For Andy Murray I reckon a quarter final exit against Nadal seems a certainty and i've put ?20 on that. Shouldn't have to much to phase him until that point.

In the womans it's even more open but i'll back Ivanovic to shut up her doubters.

I really hope Fed gets knocked out early doors to make it more exciting.

Have the final week off work too. :)

I actually think it will be more exciting if he get to the semi finals at least. Him versus Djokovic would be a cracker.

I also think there could be a few surprises this year with Roddick, Ancic and Murray all looking to go far, although the Quarter Finals for Murray would be a good achievement.

I hope Murray falls at the first hurdle. Not because he's a hobo but because he's an arrogant pleb.

True, I love Djorko :) my fave player by miles.

Yeah, Murray will need a miracle to beat Nadal.

Arrogant in the fact he always praises the players he is playing, and is well liked on the tennis circuit.

I'm sure you know best though ;)

I like how he plays tennis. I couldn't care what he is like personality wise.

I couldn't care less how he plays tennis. I live a couple of miles down the road from Dunblane and trust me he doesn't win any popularity contests up here.

Worst 2 weeks of the year.

Every Fecking year all they talk about is why GB cant produce a champion.

I'll tell you reason why, the game is crap and no one wants to get involved.

Rant Over

As for the rest of the thread, I've heard it all now. Somebody posted here saying tennis is crap but loves cricket!

Yes, you must be mince to have won a grand slam and to have lost in 3 grand slam finals (only losing to Roger Federer in them)

No he's not.

His main point was that Roddick has no hope and he's right. Mince may not be the best word as he'll beat most, but he's very limited.

Tennis has evolved past him and he'll need to serve at around 95% first serves to have any chance against the top three. They're just too good for him IMO.

I think he'll more than likely get to the Quarters, which is not mince.

I know he is a limited player (great serve, half decent forehand) but you can't argue with the success that he has had.

I don't think (and didn't say) for a second that he is good enough to beat the Top 3.

He is definitely in the 2nd tier of players alongside Murray, Ancic, Gasquet etc - which I mentioned in a previous post.

we agree basically. :) . poor choice of words by op.

the difference between roddick and murray, ancic, gasquet etc is that they could, on their day, beat the top three. roddick couldn't imo.

my solitary 1 pound wimbledon bet is gasquet each way at 50/1.
