Spitonastranger
dont really care what points or whatever it is I'll get, your a **** and i'd love you to share your view with my mates who serve. Whos killing innocent people? Those in Afghanistan are fighting the Taliban, which all political parties see as a worthwhile war. Whatever you think about Iraq, I cant remember many times our forces have been accused of killing innocent people, not all are perfect but they're not the divs on suicide missions. take your name on here, carpet bombed thousands of innocent people, you dont know me or anything about me, i m using my democratic right to a point of view, not happy with that, i am sure you mates would be delighted that i am using my right to free speech or is it only lowlifes like you that decide who says what. jambopompey
why are the soliders brave:sad:they knew what they were getting themselves into, killing innocent people is not brave they are brave because they follow the rules of engagement unlike those they are fighting, and trust me it takes balls not to fire back, so how many innocent people have the british army killed, or morr to the fact how many of those attacking our troops hid behind innocents, i would love for folk like you to walk in another mans shoes for a day. do i believe that the forces should be there is a different matter, as long as our forces are there they should get our respect, it was the same when i joined up, i knew i could be going to my death, my choice, i knew it, i still done it. it pi$$es me of do much when i see so many folk saying its not there choice, you join up you know what is ahead, or even they should not be there, that is a political policy, not the troops policy. support the troops

That may not have been the OPs intention, but it seems obvious that this thread would turn out this way.... But they ARE there. You only have to state something simple like 'Happy Birthday to the Queen' or 'I ****ing hate Celtic' for someone to accuse you of being a hun. That is a FACT whether you like it or not. Now maybe some of those who say these things do have ulterior motives. But most certainly do not. I have been called a closet hun for no good reason. Many others have too. It is totally out of order but the accusers get away with it because it is a 'good jkb cause' to try and out 'closet huns'. Whether they are actually closet huns or not does not seem to matter. This thread has NOT Been spoiled by any 'closet huns'. It has been spoiled by others. That important fact also seems to be carefully forgotten every time one of these threads appear..... Cobblers
Personally I'm not a monarchist although I wouldn't wish the old dear any harm. Not so sure about some of the hangers on though. I do have great respect however for members of the Armed forces. When I was younger I think it was quite an attractive option to join up for many people. Apart from Northern Ireland (which I don't underestimate) the other trips were pretty safe. In the last 25 years the Army in particular have been involved in many difficult conflicts. The Ross Kemp programme about Afghanistan really opened my eyes to what these guys are doing and the risks they are taking every day. For them Trooping the Colour is a real highlight of their careers (irrespective of what they personally think of the Royal family) so good luck to them all. CC, its not very often we agree on mny things, but this post i applaud. its about having respect for people, that do a job most of us could not do, who allows us the freedoms to speak and debate the way do. soldiers who for generations have fought for freedom of speech, fought for our rights, you, me, CC and I8hibsh et al, to be able to sit and say, in publis "well, i am not a monarchist, they are a waste of public money" and not be locked up in the towers, tortured, executed of whatever. these men and women ARE the bravest of us all, and whether you want to admit it or argue with me, thats fine, because a soldier fought for your right to be able to do so some people need to grow up and realise that soldiers work there arses of, and some even die, to allow us, and many others that freedom war is not pretty, and people die! innocent people die, and god bless every innocent that has perished in war torn areas, and do you know what? every soldier i know, to a man, is not proud of having slain others, or been party to any deaths. these men are not killers, they don't go out and assassinate willy nilly, or take pleasure in death. i truly despair of those who cannot see our soldiers, and all our military personnel are doing one of the hardest jobs any human being can do. they're not perfect, but they deserve better than some lily livered idiots making then out to be murderers
