What do we know about FC Krasnodar?

I suspect we won't be making it past them if we get through.

Founded in Russia in 2008. Promoted in 2009 then to the top division in 2010, despite not finishing in a promotion place - they took the place of clubs who were kicked out for financial irregularities.

In 2014/15 they got to the Europa group stage after knocking out Real Sociedad. They finished third in a group with Everton, Lille and Wolfsburg (1-0 home win against Everton, 1-1 draws with Everton away and both Lille legs, beaten by Wolfsburg 2-4 at home and 1-5 away).

In 2015-16 they got to the group stage again after a 5-3 agg win over Slovan Bratislava. They finished top of their group after wins against Dortmund, PAOK and Gabala at home, and an away win against Gabala, draw against PAOK and defeat to Dortmund. Sparta Prague put them out of the last 32 4-0 on aggregate.

No mugs. The away leg will be really tough.

All good, need to add pumped out in the 3rd round by Hearts in 2016/17, with Hearts going on to the group stage and becoming domestic champions for the first time in over 50 years and breaking the of strangle hold on Scotlands top League.

Sigurdson and Granqvist at the back. No mugs whatsoever.

I do feel if we do show up at tynie in the first leg we could maybe catch them cold. Won't be easy tho

Sometimes the underdog wins. Let's get past the Maltese first. Then concentrate on the Russians.

Craig Leveins fault we didn't win the final more comfortably though

They beat Motherwell 3-0 on aggregate in 13/14, 0-2 at Fir Park and then 1-0 in Russia.

Wasn't that Kuban Krasnodar?

They are Russian and results in their short history would suggest they are not bad. That's my lot.

We played the other team, Kuban Krasnodor in the Europa league a few years back. No problems with the fans whatsoever.

Yip, and the season was a right off as hibs put us out the LC, resulting in multiple bouts if multiple snotter and tears outbreaks, despite winning the championship.

It will be backs to the wall in both legs.

We need two Bordeauxesque performances to have any hope of getting through.

Lets just beat birkirkara 1st then panic about Krasnodar.

Its 11 v 11 they will be favourites and we are at home 1st (should we get through this round).

We need to roast them at Tynecastle to have any chance.

Sell it out and go for it.

Absolutely no point going across there to defend a 1 goal lead.

No lose game that first game as we will rightly be expected to do feck all.

Was always going to be a tough ask whoever we got, can't see us getting past them tbh.

Best we can ask for is a rousing/sterling effort in the first leg. No problem going out if we give it our best shot

What is the deadline to sign players that can play in this tie?

Not that I am saying we sign players just for this game.

I got them mixed up with Kuban Krasnador - who are known for having absolute roasters as fans or "ultras"

Been to Russia before but not to  Kasnodar and no problem with locals if you are Scottish as they have a great affinity with Rabbie Burns and St Andrew.

Following European Championships best not to display Union Jacks.

Expensive to get there and Visa required which can take a fortnight to get a hold off  - much easier if you do it through an organised trip.

Very true John but I feel we should just let the Maltese beat us next Thursday so we can avoid the guaranteed humiliation that (according to the gurus on here) will inevitably follow regardless of our opponents.  Probably just as well these attitudes were not prevalent when we played Bayern at Tynecastle.

Here's what I know. They look a lot better than us. Would be a hell of a result if we got through this...sadly I think our teas oot regarding Europe.

Maybe their billionaire owner will fall in love with us. Buy out the fans and AB and get us to the champions league.....wait that sounds familiar.

Or Lokmotive Leipzeig, Atletico Madrid, Bologna, Stuttgart, and others. Russia were one of the worst teams at Euro 2016. If we face the Russians we will quite rightly be the underdogs. We have been that many times in the past. Braga and Basle spring to mind.

I went to their game against Motherwell with a mate. Djibril Ciss? made a cameo from the bench for them that night in a comfortable win.

It's not the same team that played Well. There are two clubs in Krasnodar. I didn't know that either tbh.

Erm.  ****

To be fair though, we did do well against Liverpool with a team consisting of:

MacDonald, Grainger, McGowan, Barr, Webster, Zaliukas, Paterson, Templeton, Taouil, Sutton (Driver - 66' ), Novikovas (Carrick - 75' )

Tough opponents, but not unbeatable!

To be honest if any of our fans are inclined to go around waving Union flags I'd let them get on with it across there.

Lessons learned and all that...
