Not sure I will like this version as Ryan Murphy is involved in it all . He did “Feud” Bette and Joan and did the worse thing imaginable about those strong powerful women . He turned them into victims Quote

Cade Posted October 3, 2024 Posted October 3, 2024 The Penguin continues to be high quality in its 2nd episode. Colin Farrell is putting in a great performance as the titular character and Cristin Milioti is also superb as Sofia Falcone/Hangman. However, in trying to be grounded and realistic it's at risk of ending up being just a generic mafia crime family drama and essentially having nothing to do with Batman or even the city of Gotham itself. Still well worth a look though. Quote

Tease you with the same thing for the whole episode and then when they finally show you that thing it turns out that nothing actually happened. Quote

The editing is what is most frustrating, each weeks show could easily be 25 mins once they take out all the repeated teasers. Quote

PortyJambo Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 (edited) Slow Horses continues to be excellent, one of the best shows on TV at the moment. I've still to watch the 5th episode of season 4, and the finale is tomorrow, but it's been renewed for a 5th season already. I can see it running for a while, with multiple books for the series to be based on, but at some stage it's bound to dip in quality. Or Gary Oldman will decide enough's enough and that'll probably be that, as it won't be anywhere near as good if he's not in it. Edited October 8, 2024 by PortyJambo Quote

I read an article about season 5 earlier and the book it will be based on, and (no real spoiler) it sounds like it will feature Roddy Ho more than he has been to date. He's funny as the comic relief character, but it would be good to see his character flashed out a bit to be more than just the annoying, nerdy, creepy, tech guy. They've featured River Cartwright a lot in the storylines (maybe the books do too, I don't know) but I find him to be one of the less interesting characters, so would be good to see the spotlight on someone else. Quote
Cade Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Slow Horses has left itself a ton of story to wrap up in only one remaining episode. I hope it's not rushed. Penguin is still solid, even if episode 3 wasn't quite as good as the first two. Do we care about the exposition kid's tragic backstory and his feelings? He really only exists so that the Penguin can explain things to him (any by extension, the audience). Quote

Cade Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Terminator Zero. Solid Japanese anime entry into the Terminator franchise. Tokyo, August 28th 1997. The day before Judgement Day. Plagued by visions of the future, a Japanese scientist struggles to complete a supercomputer powerful enough to counter Skynet. Plot, script and visuals are all good. Much better than the last few films of the franchise. With only 8 episodes at 25 mins each, it's easy to binge it. Quote
