They simply tell you to "no comment". However, in such a situation, I would choose the recovery of my daughter over any considerations for my own prosecution. Though it is hard to criticise them for merely following the advice of counsel. Especially no comment when a police force as inept as the portugese lot were. Portugal was known as a paedophile hub at the time. They were probably advised that they were the ones getting it. They faked up like and their conscience will hammer them. But it was a cover up. Malinga the Swinga
While it would be an unbelievable success to either find her alive or find her body, I can't get away from belief that this detective in charge has to justify the expense of investigation and the cost of keeping this enquired alive, and if that means claiming they have as suspect, then he is happy to do so. Why would he do that? He's a salaried police officer. He'd get paid if the inquiry closed and he was on something else. He'll get paid the same if the inquiry continues forever. theshed
So why has it took this long to come up with this? Sounds like trying to justify the money they are spending and asking for more I hope I’m wrong but this will come to nothing

Tommy Brown
From news film on the ITV news. It looked like a German version of crimewatch released the discovery. Unless the guy admits (highly unlikely) it's going to be hard to proove. Circumstantial evidence, no DNA (maybe), certainly no body.

I'm waiting to see on Twitter if the Portuguese authorities publicise this - it hasn't happened (yet). Also worth noting , in 2019 the ex lead detective in Portugal predicted a German paedo would be put up by the Met as the next "suspect" - and the S*n duly printed that story last year. If you're interested in it but want to avoid the conspiracy nuts , google Mark Saukonoko. He carried the above story in his paper in 2019 also. In Australia. Is that the same ex-lead detective who thought the McCanns killed her with Calpol, then disposed of her body ? The same detective who's suggesting a known German paedo in the area at the time, is just a scapegoat ? Ever wonder why he was taken off the case .
