Not really the issue.

this is where there is a problem when lawyers get involved.

They simply tell you to "no comment".

However, in such a situation, I would choose the recovery of my daughter over any considerations for my own prosecution.

Though it is hard to criticise them for merely following the advice of counsel.

Especially no comment when a police force as inept as the portugese lot were.

Portugal was known as a paedophile hub at the time.

They were probably advised that they were the ones getting it.

They faked up like and their conscience will hammer them.

But it was a cover up.

Malinga the Swinga

While it would be an unbelievable success to either find her alive or find her body, I can't get away from belief that this detective in charge has to justify the expense of investigation and the cost of keeping this enquired alive, and if that means claiming they have as suspect, then he is happy to do so.

Why would he do that? He's a salaried police officer. He'd get paid if the inquiry closed and he was on something else. He'll get paid the same if the inquiry continues forever.

I wonder if her parents managed to stay in during the lockdown?

Nope, out socialising in the lovely balmy evening temps.

So why has it took this long to come up with this?

Sounds like trying to justify the money they are spending and asking for more

I hope I’m wrong but this will come to nothing

And so the hype machine spins up once again.

McCann's must almost have spent all of the Find Maddy Fund again.

The guy who is prime suspect tonight had short blonde hair at the time they are saying, yet the last prime suspect they had who was seen walking away with child in his arms had very long dark greasy hair

Won’t amount to anything...

It’s clear in my mind what happened, I still can’t believe there isn’t more scrutiny on the parents.

Apparently there was a few reports that they'd been meeting up with a few of their mates.

But it was alright because they'd send somebody home for a bit every 15 minutes.

Aye, and they're very middle class, and were drinking sangria and eating paella, diffirent story if they were working class and were drinking vodka and eating kebabs.

Who didn’t actually go into the apartment, but instead, because there was ‘no noise’ happily went back to her Bacardi and Coke.

Great checking.

Wasn't there something which came out that the long-haired guy was within the vicinity around the time of the expected abduction but it turned out to be a local carrying his own daughter? I think he came forward, spoke to police and did a host of media interviews.

Tommy Brown

From news film on the ITV news.

It looked like a German version of crimewatch released the discovery.

Unless the guy admits (highly unlikely) it's going to be hard to proove. Circumstantial evidence, no DNA (maybe), certainly no body.

German Public Prosecutor believes that Madeleine is dead and are treating this as a murder inquiry.

The German police have no jurisdiction in the case and neither do the Met.

Maybe not, but one of their own citizens ( Currently in jail ) is the suspect. UK citizens can be tried for crimes committed abroad I believe but not sure of the position in Germany.

I'm waiting to see on Twitter if the Portuguese authorities publicise this - it hasn't happened (yet).

Also worth noting , in 2019 the ex lead detective in Portugal predicted a German paedo would be put up by the Met as the next "suspect" - and the S*n duly printed that story last year.

If you're interested in it but want to avoid the conspiracy nuts , google Mark Saukonoko. He carried the above story in his paper in 2019 also. In Australia.

Interesting read though I doubt the UK and German police/prosecutors would both be complicit in some sort of stitch up

Is that the same ex-lead detective who thought the McCanns killed her with Calpol, then disposed of her body ?

The same detective who's suggesting a known German paedo in the area at the time, is just a scapegoat ?

Ever wonder why he was taken off the case .

There's a few podcasts - listen to the one where he gets the Aussie expert to offer to do the DNA analysis for free (the bloke doesn't even need the DNA samples just the test data from the UK ). The parents have shown no interest in this.
